Help Fund

Attention: TDR Forum Junkies
To the point: Click this link and check out the Front Page News story(ies) where we are tracking the introduction of the 2025 Ram HD trucks.

Thanks, TDR Staff

and i never thought i would want a ford!!

I have been reading for years about people having problems and strapped for cash, including me. We have 23855 members. If everyone here would donate $1. 00 in an emergency fund for repairs of members trucks it would definately ease the pain. Whether it would cover all the cost or a fraction of it I would think it would benefit all of us. I do not know all the administration details of something like this and hopefully everyone here could contribute $1. 00 or whatever they would like to a yearly fund or modified as needed.

What are your thoughts on this?. Have I finally gone off the deep end?.

This site is big enough that we should take care of our own.

Opinions please.

Dave

In a perfect world, that would work great. However, back here in reality, I tend to think it would cause nothing but pain and agony for most. I am always willing to lend a hand when needed, as most members are, but some members here cannot be trusted, even when you think you know them quite well. It is a great thought though.

i think thats a pretty good idea. i am another one strapped for cash but i can give a couple of dollars to help people out.

i like that idea, it could be right with the membership pack, like a election donation spot (only for us not the political crooks) im sure that sompthing could be worked out. i personaly wouldnt mind even giving $5 out,but thats me. not to use this as a performance upgrade bank but for sompthing to get trucks back on the road when in a time of need. i like the idea and would like to see sompthing like this happen. we are the biggest diesel forum out there, more like a underground community if ya think about it :) .

Baby needs a new pair of shoes and the ol' dog needs a Kore suspension. :-laf

I think it is a good idea. I tried to get folks to help out with rebuilding OUR race truck, aka Kore baja bonzai truck. However, I couldn't come up with an email address to PayPal to, (except for a generous offer of assistance from Greg Boardman  :-laf ).

I would be willing to donate. Maybe a fund could generate enough interest to get a life of it's own.

I 2nd Matt "work truck"

I sent out for decals, flyers, and my 100,000 tag plus 20. 00 in donation to TDR. I like to think that everyone here is as honest as I am but not everyone is.

The idea is great but how woul you justify how much each person gets? you just dont know there financial situation. And would there be any way to pay that money back to the "bank" so it should be a loan without intrest?

maybe we can get checks from "the bank of TDR"? :-laf I just ordered more checks... . wow those background designs are lame! maybe some CUMMINS/DODGE/TDR checks could be available!!!!

This site and its membes are the absolute greatest!!

I like Ian's idea about the bank. I don't mean i need 8000. 00 for a new engine, but more like for people that are 5 states from home and they're vp just went out. But who could run it? I think that is asking a bit much out of the TDR staff. I'm sure we have a banker on here that can step in with some help. Interest free loan repaid to non-profit organization should keep any legal issues down.

couldnt have said it better. i would love to see someone step up and help out with this. lets look at the worst that could happen, were out $1. each of us. but if it takes off and goes good that would be awsome. to have a place so dedicated to its members that it would help fix a broken truck! that makes me feel great, and to think that i helped with it. i cant see a huge volume of help needed with the travel companion too. just sompthing to help. im sure someone could put togather some guidlines for this.

I like this idea better ... how about helping a fellow American who's down on his luck. All you guys with your new fangled 2004/5 trucks make us old time 12 valvers feel insignificant ... so I'll tell ya what, how about each member donate $2 to o'le FATCAT so he can go get one of them new fangled 2005 trucks and not feel so left out of all them discussions about those e-lec-tron-ic gismos you all put on your trucks.

So what do ya say guys ... . could you help out an old 12 valver get "with it" in the modern era. :-laf

hahahha LOL well old timer, if ya didnt have the Kubota and jetta you could have the new fancy plastic 3rd gen :-laf

Woodsrat's Idea of the outa state broke down no way to get home 911 is a great idea!!!! its just a matter of being quick to respond to get the money to the person and to make sure they arnt getting shafted by some diesel shop that is looking for a wounded prey!

thats true, most shops are ligit but there are a few who will rake you over the coals if they can, but what else are you gonna do? stranded hundreds of miles from anyone you know, its freezin out and your vp44 just went bad (sound familiar?? :D ) id pay what they want to make me move again.

by the way, who wants a new truck anyways, to new ;) the ol work truck will be runnin long after there electronics go bad :-laf

Great Idea, But No Good Way To Administer

I am very impressed with the generosity of this group. Kudos to each of you who are willing to help out the other guy.

Unfortunately, there is no way we could administer such a fund without the (rather significant) possibility of creating some ill will with TDR members who would assess "emergency" differently. And our staff has no way of verifying the legitimacy of any request or the appropriate use of such a donation.

Again, the thought and offering is TREMENDOUS! I applaud each of you. But this is not an initiative that we can effectively undertake. I trust you understand.

Thank you again.

Thanks Robin,

It probably would not work anyway. 12 total posts out of 23,855 members. Pretty pathetic. It was worth a try though.
