The flywheel comes off like a torque converter from the other side, unbolts through the access door in the transmission adapter.

Doughboy just called me back, he got the flywheel off, it is through the little plate on the passenger side that looks like the number eight

now i have a another problem..... Have no bolts long enough to go through the SB flywheel to bolt to crank.....

Once you take off stock flywheel and adapter plate, the bolts that hold the adapter plate to the crank are only an inch long and wont go through the SB flywheel, and the bolts that go through the adapter plate and hold on to the stock flywheel are to small in diameter... ... .

This is just stupid... . are you supposed to get new flywheel bolts with the new flywheel?

If not what size do i need(length wise) to get the SB flywheel on?

I have a headache... ...

THANKS for the help those that called or chimed in.....

You need standard flywheel bolts for or off of an older Cummins with a manual transmission.

See if you can find someone in your area with a set...

Got to love the G56 and Dual Mass!! :-laf

Heck with this dual mass... ... I have had no MODS or any performance done to this truck(yet)..... And the only thing i have done is tow somewhat heavy... . The clutch has been slipping and once i got it out the whole thing you can tell has been heated up pretty good.....

As far as the flywheel bolts i assuming they all the same size in the older trucks both diameter and length?

When doing a clutch in a nv5600 do you re-use the stock flywheel bolts?

If thats the case i should be able to call local dodge dealer and get those flywheel bolts huh??????

thats what i thought... I didn't think they would change the crank for that DUAL MASS-JUNK... ... still the same crank that the NV trucks have. Should be same bolt pattern, length, thread pitch... ... For those that haven't seen or would like to see the Dual mass-pile i will go get some pics... ... . THANKS for the help

that sucks that it doesn't come with bolts, or doesn't say anything about that. I must go and buy some before wednesday. if you could, some pics would be great

shawn

can you post a list of things need to do this conversion so that when i get my fe i will not run into any snags. thanks you

also did you get the hydro upgrade kit.

Hydro upgrade yes... . very easy to install... ... Make sure you get bolts to bolt new flywheel on, as you cant re-use stock bolts, not long enough... .

After looking at those pics and looking at my truck it looks as if the rear crankshaft seal is leaking..... There not supposed to be oil all over the back of the flywheel like that is there? Is it normal to seep some or it should be completwly dry right?

Also if your gonna do the job yourslef it gets tricky when you get to the flywheel as the flywheel bolts are on the back side fo the flywheel.....
