97 4X4 2500 I have a growling sound and vibration that starts to be noticable at about 1750 RPM and get worse with RPM. I first noticed a slite vibration only when the A/C was on, but now it's getting really bad with or without the A/C running. ????

Any Suggestions!!!

Maybe the a/c clutch bearing? The clutch is available new from DC ask for a 1994 model year compressor.

You can ck. by removing the drive belt and spining the pulley to ck. for bearing side play and roughness.

I'd also spin the altenator too and the water pump pulley as well as the fan and pulley

The ps or vaccum pump bearing might be growling too.

Otherwise maybe something internal!:(

Good luck

Andy

The a/c compressor clutch pulley, usually worsens when a/c clutch is engaged. If this isn't the case then look at other common failures.

Tensioner

Tensioner Pulley (Dayco 89005???)

Fan Mount bearing (pricey double row bearing avail from Chrysler or Cummins) You will need a shop press to press it out/new one in. .

Alt. bearings.

Water pump.

Remove serp. belt and start rotating things to find the culprit.

Good luck

Andy
