So here is the story... ... . cruising on I-80 at about 75 mph and a I started to smell diesel, I pulled into a rest area to find a broken fuel eturn line at the injection pump. This truck is a 99 with the vp44. There was fuel every where but the truck waqs running fine except fer a ratle noise above 2500 rpm. I called for a tow and got a funny pic of my 3500 on top of a ford f-350 flatbed(looked like a cow doin a pig). fittings and rubber line at a store and built a bypass for the broken line. Took it out for a ride and it seemed to run ok till it gotr up to temp. Then it coughed and poped and died. I pulled a bunch connectors and all looked ok. Tried to restart it and it fired up Check engine light is on and it will not turn over 1300 rpm. Throttle feels funny as it is dead then wakes up about 1/4 throttle. I guess I need a shop that can fix this thing in the area ASAP.

Any Assistance would be appretiated.

Either here or on phone(908)591-4547

Cleveland

Did you have the battery disconnected while you were working on the fuel line? If so, might need to reprogram the throttle position sensor (APPS). To do that, disconnect the batt again for 30 min. or so, reconnect, turn on ign. and slowly move the throttle from 0 to wide open(without engine running of course). And that is supposed to do it. Sorry can't be of more help. bg

Fixed

I had hoped for a little help in locating a reputable shop in the Cleveland area but no dice. I ran it over to Bridgeway Cummins and they put another injection pump on it. Mine was 5 days shy of the end of warrantee. Cummins even paid all but $60 worth of bill. I sure wasnt gonna argue with that. It took 3 days and it will be a long time before I recover from the extended stay with my mother, wife, and son but I did eventually make it home.

Had

P. S. I saw a listing of Cummins shops at the dealer. Why isnt that posted some where on this site. The normal phone book didn't list Bridgeway, I had to get the number from my local place here in NJ.
