Would'nt you Know, Just Two Days Before the Big Camping Trip, I think My VA Took a Dump.
What the truck did is start with a stumble, Then the Check engine Light Came On, And the Cummins would not run past 1500rpm.
So I disconnected the batteries to reset the code. Hooked them back up, And still had the check engine light, But the Cummins ran Great Like usual. After 3 start/stop cycles the check engine went off?
Then I made 4th stop in town,Shut the truck off, Then restarted it, This time i had another stumble and check engine light.
So I have disconnected the VA, And So far, No More Problems, And the Check Engine Light has Not came on again.

So What do y'all Think?.

BTW. Brandon in Modesto Has Been Called and I May be Getting a PE. Maybe... ...

Thanks
Doug.

Of all the VA boxes we sold, all but two have come back to us for problems such as the above. I had the opportunity to see the new Blue Chip Box this past weekend in Chip's truck. It is amazing. You can program a bunch of options. It impressed me completely and totally.

So Chris, Are you saying that if you sold 100 VanAaken Box's, You got 98 of them back for not work correctly?. If thats true, Then So Much For English Quality!. I have had this box for 1 year and paid $750. 00, Does'nt seem right to me.

I guess Im SOL for power on the Trip.

How about you guys with the VanAaken Box's. How are they holding up?

Going threw power withdraw's Doug.

Thanks Chris, How Long is the Warranty for the VA?.

I just traded my VA for a EZ. On my truck they both had about the same power and both improved driveability. I felt that I could get better highway mileage with the EZ. Also the egt seemed to cool down quicker.

Doug,

Had the same thing happen with the VA box I had. Exact same symptoms. At the time I had had it about 10 months or so. Anyhow, I had bought it from Jannetty Racing who replaced it under warranty. I never had a problem with the 2nd one, but sold it when the Edge EZ came out. Hope you are able to get a new one soon.

Mark

Ted Jannetty sold a bunch of VAs couple years ago; including mine. I have been very pleased with mine. You will have certain % failures in any of them.

I doubt it

The failure rate of the VA could not be 98%

My VA has worked flawlessly plus its back by a 2 year warranty

This is the old version box :)

I've had my VA for over a year now and am very happy with it. I use the truck as a daily driver and on the weekends pull a 3 horse trailer with living quarters in it. I pulled over a set of scales last year on the way to a horse show and the combined rig weighed in at 21,650lbs. The truck pulled like a dream! So I've worked mine pretty hard and the VA hasn't skipped a beat. Oh, I did waterproof it though.

I have an old style VA. I bought it second hand and have never had a problem so I dont know how old it is. I'm sure that after heat and bumping around( I dont have it attached to anything it just sits there) and enough miles it can fail. We had one failure in our SETDR and I think he got a new one, but I am not sure how old his VA was. The idea that there is a 98% failure of old VA's seems ridiculous.

Diesel> how do you come to that number ? Can you give us anymore specifics.

HDH> I really dont get how our VAa's can fail at that rate and frankly I dont beleive it. Do you buy this?

Don't put words in my mouth. Read the above carefully. I only did say that two of the original lot that we sold are still in trucks. The rest of them came back and people bought the EZ. I never said I sold a hundred of them. This is how rumors start. People read something and automatically misquote you.

va box

I have had my va for over a year. The first one lasted 2 mo and thay exchanged it. The new one has went over a year without a glutch. I was told that when i bought it that the life of the box was about 8 years, but if you beleave that I will sell you a bridge some where. IF mine goes out again I will put in a good set of injectors and forget about the box.

First you say this. Then someone says IF you sold a hundred that would be a 98 % failure rate. Then you say they werent that that popular. Then in this last post you clarify by saying all but two were either problems or were traded back for EZs. You probably wouldnt have to worry about rumours if you didnt talk out your A$$.

That is probably a little harsh.

How many VAs did you sell?

How many did you get back do to failure?

How many did you get back because someone wanted an EZ?

If you walk into a room and throw a bomb then expect fallout. Your initial statement said you got back all but two due to problems. Your last statement includes the omited information that some of them were returned to trade for an EZ. Those are very different statements. I think that flip flop means you are talking out your A$$, but you can set the record straight by answering those questions.
