Just changed my shocks to Ranchos last night. Didn't have the sway bar problem though.

Outside temp was 100 degrees hot when I started. I was in the garage. Building a new 30x40 work shop.

Question: What Rancho shock settings do your run empty? What about with a 1900 lb. load from a 5th wheel trailer?

Jumbo Jet,

Empty I run the fronts I have on 2 and the rears on 1. I think most are running the fronts on3 empty, but I liked it better on 2 for a little softer ride. Can't tell you loaded because I haven't tried it yet.

Nathan, thanks for the info on jacking.

Ron, you're from Louisville? I lived there in my teen years, went to Trinity High School.

Jumbo, as to settings: The day after I did the shocks we pulled the 5er to the Smokies. Our 5er is 36 feet. I weighed it before we left out, it was 14,250 pounds. I set the rear shocks to 5 and the fronts to 3. It was a lot better than OEM. When I first considered getting the Rancharos I asked about getting airbags too. I was told the Rancharos were all that was needed. They were right.

When we were unloaded I set the rears to 1 and left the fronts on 3. I think I'll try vc's advice and move the fronts to 2 and see how it does.

I'll post a full report on the Rancharos in a day or so.

Rancho Install...

Just did the rear's last night. I was able to move the shock and get the bolt out without removing the sway bar mount. It was questionable at first? Tonight I'll tackle the front's.

The fronts are a piece of cake, compared to the rears, at least on mine. I wish I had taken pictures of my knuckle blood on the underside of the bed. Some of the wrench points were designed by someone I'd like to have sitting on my Craftsman vice. :D :D
