I just purchased a set of signal mirrors from muth. Does anyone know any special tricks to install these. I'm not very good at removing door panels and having them fit back properly. I understand the directions (easy) but what degree of difficulty is it to remove the door panel and the mirror. My mirrors (lenses) are already cracked so I'm not to concerned about damaging them more. If anyone from NW bombers have experience at this and would like to help I will furnish the pizza and beer #ad

These were purchased though the group purchase at www.wwcd2.com. Thanks for saving me some cash Carl $$$$$$ #ad

Ship the beer and pizza, along with the mirrors to my house and I will install them for you and then let you know how they work. #ad

Never pulled a Dodge door panel befor but when I pull door panels I first go to NAPA and pick up a complete set of the plastic retainer clips. They sell a panel tool but they are light gauge steel and when you try to pop one of thoes guys out it will bend, I usually use a large 3/8 screw driver (12" shank ) and work it under the panel and when it gets up to or next to a retainer it is srong enough to pop it out, just make sure you have all the screws out first. I have seen their instructions while checking out the mirrors and the are very comprehensive. You shouldn't have too much trouble. good luck!!... ... ... . I'm waiting to see what the Magna Mirrors look like.

Justbeamn,

Ditto on JNutter's advice on using a large screwdriver & having plastic clips on hand.

I replaced the factory mirrors on my 2000 RAM with the Mopar towing mirrors. It's a rather straight-forward operation. You need to remove three sheet metal screws per door—two in the "cup" and one near the mirror. At this point you should be able to pull the upper forward part of the door panel away from the door a bit, enough to peek in and see where the clips are. Don't try to save the clips. Instead, concentrate on prying the panel away from the door sheet metal so that the plastic clips pull out of the sheet metal and NOT out of the door. The clip is the weak sister in this assembly. You definitely won't hurt the sheet metal pulling the clip out. You probably would not hurt the plastic door panel if the clip was pulled from the panel, but I wouldn't tempt fate. The clip has a nail-like head that slides into a slot on the plastic door panel.

I noticed in your post that you were concerned about removing the door panel. I was able change out my mirrors by removing the three screws and popping the three clips closest to the mirror—the door panel never came out. These were Mopar's instructions.

I recommend that you go to your local Dodge Truck parts counter and purchase a half dozen of the plastic clips before you start your job. That way you can better see what you're working with.

Hope this helps.

Justbeamn, contact Rob Hanson at: RHanson117@aol.com about installation of your Muth signal mirrors at an upcoming NW BOMBer "work party"... . you just missed the last one (last weekend).

Also, post a response to the latest NW BOMBers event (Local Event forum) which will be Dec. 17th. Andy Perreault has already installed a pair of these on his Ram... over a year ago... needless to say, he's the resident expert on this. I'm sure the free pizza and beer offer will be all the motivation he'll need. #ad
Seriously, Andy is always willing to help.

In the future, you should post a work party related question in the "local Events" forum otherwise it may not be seen. The TDR website has grown so large it is almost impossible to read through all the threads on a daily basis... especially at this time of year when everyone is so busy.
