I have an 89 Dodge Cummins with the 727 transmission, helped out by the addition of 3. 55 gears and a gearvendors O/D. The engine mods are a Banks powerpack and a Banks intercooler. The problem is this: While traveling at 75 mph on Hwy 80 hauling an ATV and towing a Jeep on a trailer when all of a sudden the engine died. No cough, nothing. I pulled over and tried to start it and it turned over real fast, like low compression or no fuel. I checked teh water drain on teh filter and fuel came out of teh filtyer. I tried to strat it and it started. Off I went for about 30 miles and it happened again. It started again and I guessed that I might have a plugged filter so I drove 60 mph and continued another 300 miles. Today while driving in town it did it again so I changed teh filetr. The truck started after the filter change and went about 1 mile and died. I loosened the fuel lines at teh injectors and am getting fuel at the injectors, but it will not start. Any suggestions? Also, the truck has 190,000 miles on it.

I hate to say it, but it sounds like your injector pump went South. My 89 did the same thing (both times) just before my pump died. When cranking the engine, it seems to turn at a much higher RPM than it normally does. Although you are getting fuel at the injectors (when you crack the lines), it is at a reduced pressure. The lower pressure is not strong enough to pop open the injectors and flow fuel. This is probably why your truck will not start. At 194K, I was on my second injector pump overhaul. The first overhaul only lasted 42K. Find yourself a reputable Bosch injector pump shop. At 190K, you are long overdue for a pump rebuild.
