Hi to all,

This is my first posting. I'm a subscriber since late 2008.

HELP! My truck is at the dealer for MIL #2262 (turbo boost) & #0409 (EGR) problems.

I currently have TSB 18-013-008 (p/n #62350430AS) that was downloaded in June 2009 due to the above MIL #s and also downloaded the anti bootloader program as well.

I am more than a little wary of another download which killed 2 mpg, made my exhaust brake less powerful and prevented me from modifying my engine/exhaust.

Does anyone know exactly what changes are made to the ECM when the J35 (TSB 18-024-009) recall/reflash is performed?

I've read everything I can find about the J35 recall, yet no one seems to know exactly what modifications are made to the ECM programming.

"It improves power and mileage. " "It runs worse and cost fuel economy", are just a couple of things I have read about the recall.

Lastly and most important will I be able to use a Smarty 67me with this recall? I plan to lose the DPF/egr and increase my mileage.

ps.

My dealer tells me

It will void my warranty

if I don't do the J35

Thank You,

The Flash for the J35 is not the same now as when it came out way back when. You will get the latest software version available. I haven't heard any complaints about it.

There is also an improved Turbo cleaning procedure that works better than the first version. Go for it and don't sweat the small stuff.

I for one would like more information on the new Turbo Cleaning procedure if you have some time for a few details, thanks

Ok the new procedure is performed with the scan tool only
One of 3 codes must be present,2262 don't remember the others
After connecting up the cleaning injection tool, the scan tool will
run the engine up to a hi idle for 5 minutes to heat up the turbo
no cleaner being injected at this time
After the completion of that cycle the engine is shut off
That is when the cleaner is injected,at this time the scanner begins
Activating the turbo ,clearly audible for the next 5 minutes
At the end of this cycle it perfoms a test on the turbo.
It will say successful or replace turbo
From what I have seen so far it is better than the previous
Procedure
