Help looking at used 03

Need help looking at a used 2003 2wd, from what i understand if built after jan 03 it should have a ho motor and 48re trans. Is there ID plates on motor or can I tell from the vin number just to be sure. This is new to me posting threads hope I did it right.

If you look at the V. I. N. # if there is a c in the 8th digit it should be a HO if it has a 6 it is a standard output. Good luck finding a truck

There's also a plate mounted on the front of the engine that will state the HP. 250=SO, 305=HO.

There is also a sticker in the glove box that will tell you the powertrain, Engine, trans, axles info and gears.

I know that in 05 they switched to an in tank fuel pump. I'm also in the middle of changing the inj and fuel pump in our 01, due to a faulty lift pump. What I don't know is how reliable the 03 and 04 trucks were for lift pump issues. I want to change the lift pump out on my buddys 03 ( if they give problems ) before it damages the injection pump. btw I'm putting the fass pump on the 01 to end that issue

Thanks for the information, the truck I was looking at was a standard so I'll keep looking
