Any ideas why at low RPM (1500) 40mph you give more diesel and the truck will not respond. Kinda stalls or hick-ups. Shift down from 5-6 to 3-4 it will pick up speed with rpm increase. This happens off and on not all the time. Changed all filters no help. 02 4X4 Just had this post on the wrong forum. Hope I get it right this time:)

Your truck still stock?

Mine does that to some degree, especially afer putting the 285 tires on. At certain times if the rpm's are too low, there is no power. If I try to push harder on the diesel pedal there is even less power. The gear does not matter, it will do it in all gears but mostly likely in 4th gear at 35-40 mph because of the frequency that I use those speeds.

In my case I am simply trying to fuel too hard and putting out the fires, because I have not built enough boost. I believe.....

If I down shift there is no issue otherwise.

I would think that if it was the pump, maybe the situation would reverse. I mean no power at higher rpm higher loads.

Never hurts to get the lift pump pressure / flow checked on these trucks at any rate.

EDIT: Get them to check for codes also or do it yourself with the ignition key method.

I just noticed mine does that too. If i bump the juice up to level one from stock it doesnt do it anymore. Since it does that i would think the factory fueling is too light because its not seeing any boost and the rpm is too low. Mine does it moreat the 1200-1300 range tho.

We get three codes 0460,1693,0216. We are going to put a lift pump on for about $200. Dealer said they put them in the tank now and don't make the old style pumps?? We found one in an auto parts store. If it is the injection pump ($3000) not sure what. Just draging out feet. Maybe it's this ULSD starting to show its head.

if it's your VP44, call Rip at Source Automotive in Gladstone, 503-654-9004. friend of mine got a VP44 installed for around $1700 - $1800, $3000 sounds way out of line.
