2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Help, Lower Radius Arm Problem!

Just bought a 2. 5 in Skyjacker lift, putting it on, everything was going perfect until the last cam bolt on the drivers side lower radius arm, it bolt is frozen inside metal bushing. TRIED EVERYTHING I CAN THINK OF TO GET IT OUT!! :{ Tried penitrating oil, heat, porta-a-power, still won't break loose. Any thoughts or advice?! THANK YOU in advance.

torch it out. Then buy a new cam from your nearest dodge dealer. Should run you about 20-25 bucks for a new set, which includes the bolt with cam, the cam, and the nut. I had to torch most of the bolts off of mine.

I just had to deal with this LAST night.



A good friend of mine kept insisting his way would work. Well, after trying his 'ways' for over 2 hrs, I did it my way, and an hour later, they were out and the new ones were going in.



They easiest way to get it out is using a sawzall. Be careful tho, as it is easy to cut into the bracket on the axle. Sharp blades help tons. Cut thru the rubber and sleeve between the arm & the bracket on the truck. It took me about an hour to cut both arms out.



Burning them out won't help you if the sleeve is froze on the bolt. It will just get rid of the rubber, and it may weaken the axle brackets. when the mess is over, the sleeve will still be frozen on the bolt, and still in the brackets.

Drill it out. Center punch the bolt head and start with a small bit. I used an 1/8", some cutting oil, (or tap magic), slow, and a little at a time. Used a bigger bit each time till I finally got through.

You need good drill bits, as the bolt is hard. Also helps if you have a buddy that can watch your drilling angles to keep it straight. To bad it wasn't the passenger side, as you could drill the bolt from both sides.

i had the same prob when i put a 4. 5 skyjacker on my buddies truck, both of the cam bolts were seized in the holes so i ended up taking an angle grinder and cutting the end off and then putting a large screwdriver on the end and hitting it with a sledge to finally punch it out. major PITA, i will never mess with a lift again, that day i took a 4. 5 skyjacker off one truck and put it on another truck, so pretty much strating at 7am and ending at midnight i had swapped suspensions between 2 trucks.
