I am shopping for a set of weld wheels and i am questioning what backspacing will give me the look i want. The wheel i want is offered in a 35/8 and a 45/8 what will stick out the least. I am just planning on putting on some front springs and running 315/75R16 so nothing to extreme. does anyone have any comparison pictures. This is a big purchase so i want it to be right.

the more backspacing a wheel has, the less it will stick out of the fender.

8" wide wheel, 3 5/8" backspacing is -0. 375" offset.

8" wide wheel, 4 5/8" backspacing is +0. 625" offset.

How does that offset translate to how far they'll stick out?

If we get an 8" wheel and we don't want it to stick out, how much backspacing do we want to get?

What about 10"

Thanks,

Blake Malkamaki

well... if you take a plumb line and drop it down from the fender where the axle is, and measure the mounting surface on the hub, to the plumb line, then you can figure out how much it will stick out. if you have the specs on your current wheel, then you can also calculate the amount [approx] that the wheel will come out of the fender. i do not know off hand what the specs for the dodge wheels are [16x6. 5,7,7. 5,8 were all sizes at one time with ?. ? backspacing]
