I tow about 50% of the time in the summer.

At the moment i get a drone around 60-70 when slightly lugged on the motor, and it drives me nuts.

I need from the cat, to the back

I live in the south, but plan on keeping the truck for a long while, but i don't care if its shiny or ugly.

I need a reasonably cost effective system thats quiet. Oo.

So please if you have a existing setup PLEASE chime in.

TIA

I put a Donaldson 4" muffler on my '04. 5 and it took away all drone. Because the entire exhaust was junk I also installed a Silverline stainless from turbo back. At first I had the Silverline muffler on but it caused a horrible drone. The Donaldson did the trick. This truck tows 50% of the time. Do a search and you will find the model number and you can buy it from Ryder parts fairly inexpensive.

Godspeed,
Trent

I put a 4" Turbo back ANSA from Genos on -0- drone.

aluminized and NO rust so far at all. And I live in PA.

325. 00 more or less.

Funny thing RDeFayette doesn't have any drone with the ANSA?

I put on a stainless turbo back ANSA system and the noise is deafening while pulling my 12k 5th wheel, which is > 50% of the time.

In fact it's just as loud as it was when the stock pipe separated from the front of the muffler- which is why I needed a new system.

Glad to see the recommendation onthe Donaldson, think I'll try it.

Last night I put a new Magneflow turbo back system on to my truck. It was $375 delivered from Amazon. It is 409 Stainless (and considering the stock system lasted me 200k miles, I didn't see any reason to spend more on the 304 Stainless). I was please with the build quality and easy of installation. It came with nice clamps and didn't really have any problems with hanger locations. The only concern I have is it does use a few less hangers than the stock system, so I will have to see if that creates any long term problems.

It came with a nice polished tip, that I am not going to use. I am fine with the pipe alone. I plan on selling the tip on eBay or to a friend.

However, it is a little louder than stock. It isn't bad, and is actually quite a nice sound. I do hear more turbo whine. I haven't had it out on the expressway or with a trailer yet to see about the drone. I will report back on that in a few days.

If I do have drone, I am going to get one of these resonators and install it. It is also available in 409 stainless, so no dissimilar metals problems. Other have said this combination works well.

Paul Fox of www.orangemuffler.com installed a Shuttleworth HD diesel muffler on mine in place of the stocker. Slightly louder than stock with no drone. Cheap @ $150 I believe. I'm five miles from the ocean here and it's almost six yrs old. No rust.
