Ford cummins conversion guys help

22 MPG city. 4BT

I’m building a jeep with 4bt Cummins and g-56 six speed but now I need the transfercase. What I would like to find is a NP-205 from a 89-93 Cummins with getrag trans I believe I’m looking for a 29 spline input shaft but the rare transfercase is hard to find. Does any one know if there is any other transfer case that will bolt to the back of my G-56 which is the same as the g-360 NV4500 and NV5600 since this is going in my jeep it need to be as short as possible and can not have a slip yoke it also must be a passenger side drop any help would be greatly appreciated and if any on know of any dodge Cummins NP-205 transfercase laying around let me know

Thanks

Get a Stak. . really nice but $... . or a 29 spline 205 they aren't that hard to find . . you can always modify a non 29 spline to get the bigger bearings and shafts etc the parts and machine work would probably cost more then a useds transfercase... . keep checking the forum clasifieds on online on any of the forums etc... ..... or a slip yoke eliminator kit for a new transfercase.

You may be able to get away with a GM NP205 with the ROUND six-bolt flange that came behind some TH400 transmissions and change the input to a Dodge 29 spline. However once again they are rare like the Dodge NP 205 with the 29 spline input. Another possibility could be a GM NP241 from a Blazer or Suburban from 1988-1991, and change the input to a Dodge NP241 29 spline input. Very easy transfer case to find, cheap, relatively strong, and 2. 72:1 low range. If you put a SYE (slip yoke eliminator) from JB Conversions on, then you remove the last weak link in the case. At least they're a couple more options over the $2500 Atlas and Stak cases.

You can always find the T400 NP205 case with the old figure 8 adapter and switch the 32 spline female input to the 29 spline input for the cummins, the bearings are the same size, then you would have to locate the adapter.

Or in my case, I took the donor Auto NP205 and adapter and had them machined out. I looked for a while and nothing ever materialized and the ones that did, were from proud owners. Since I planned to rebuild what ever case I used anyway, it turned out to be less dollars to machine the case and adapter and purchase the input shaft, than finding the correct 29 spline case and adapter.

You just need to to have the new bearing and seals to take with the empty case and adapter to your machinist and they can make the changes in short order.

Good luck!
