Well, the engine in my signature died during a full throttle run the night before last. I'm still not sure exactly what happened, but something in the lower end bent and needs fixing. I'll know exactly on Sunday when when we pull the engine.
Anyway, Monday I will either be ordering parts to rebuild my engine or else just ordering a whole new engine. This is for a high HP daily driver that needs to be very reliable. If I decide to put nitrous on it and take it down to the drag strip for some weekend fun then it has to come back in one piece. My long term goal for the vehicle is to make every possible performance enhancement that is consistent with the goal of a fun and fast daily driver.
I'm already thinking that while I have it apart this is a very good time to port and O-ring the head. Does anyone have any suggestions on other things I should consider doing while the engine is torn apart? I'm particularly interested in things that will ensure that it is a very long time before I have to pull the engine out of my truck again.
