I am in a bit of a predicament. I don't have a whole bunch of money to spend right now, because I just found out my wife is pregnant with our first. I went part time in my job to finish building our log home, so spending a few thousand clams probably would not go over that well with Mrs Swamp Donkey! #ad

Now for the real question, I am dying to get my hands on a set of DB 370 marine injectors, and a governor spring kit. How will these two items work with the set up that I have now? I have the 250/635 plate in now. Turbo and exhaust are stock right now. I will say that I do want to go big in the HP department (around 350-400) so I don't want to be purchasing parts over again. For example settling for 300 hp injectors when I will be buying 370's in another year because the 300's were to small.

So, what is your opinion on what I should do next for hp increase? I am open to all sugestions. Common sense tells me the 370 aren't the right thing with the set up I have, BUT I WANT THEM!!!!!!! #ad

John:

You will be very happy with the install-
ation of the 370 Diamond B Injectors and
a governor spring kit. I did all this
last year at the "Scheid Rally" in Sept.
2000. If you go back into the "12 Valve
Archives" you will see a long post by
me titled "370 inj's,GovSpring kit, AFC
sprgkit, WOW" posted on 10-01-2000.

In the post I gave detailed information
on the installation of the injectors etc.

In summary, they make a BIG DIFFERENCE
John. "Koa Man", Joe Donnelly and Piers
helped me to make my decision. I am glad
I did it!

Check out my old entry if you haven't
done so already. I believe this is the
link to it:

John,

I went back and read the topic again. I also checked alot of the old posts with 370 in the topic. A little research goes a long way. From what I see, they should not be a problem.

The work done to your pump by Scheid Diesel when you first had your 370's installed, was it just an afc and gov spring kit installed or did they do a little more tweeking to it than that?

I am off to the archives to find out more about the gov spring kit..... or I could conact Piers.....

John, I'm no expert, but I think you'd want to beef up the trans before making too much HP.
Probibally want to bump up the timing too.

Mr Donkey
You won't be needing that fuel plate with the 370s. You will have HEAP BIG EGT problem with that stock exhaust, turbo and intake. You'll definitely be to the stage of needing more air. Mine runs great and during a long pull it will just reach egt of 1400 if I hold it hard to the floor and let the RPMs rise. I am running the stock plate forward about ". 030. Lots of low end and not much turbo lag. I have the AFC set for a good puff at pre boost. All in all, no complaints.

Congrats to You and Mrs. Donkey on the new addition #ad

The patriot,

I already have a BD valve body and torque converter. It is the 215L converter which is rated for 250-300 hp. I will be exceeding that level I hope. Limits were made to be broken! Just hope my transmission will handle these new levels... ...

John:

Sorry for the delay in getting back to
you. I have been working alot lately.

To answer your questions, "Scheid Diesel"
installed both the gov. and AFC spring
kits and also did internal modifications
to the pump. I then had them "rebuild" the
transmission to hold the extra power. So
far, so good, however, I am awaiting the
arrival of an HX-40/16 and a 4" exhaust.
So at that point I will look into a little
"heavier" rated TC.

Hope this helps you John! Sorry for the
delay in getting back to you.

John:

Almost forgot! Yes, Piers can help you
alot with what you are trying to do. He
has his own shop now so give him a call!

Well my cheque is in the mail. I talked to Piers and ordered the 370 injectors and gov spring kit. Now the waiting begins.....

John_P,

How is your auto handling all of the power? I see you mentioned a different TC. It seems I am following in your BOMBing footsteps!
