Would like to upgrade my system without removing head unit because of u-connect. Any suggestions any install info would be appreciated. Where to put box and amp? What system? What cost? Purchase location?

THANKS IN ADVANCE

i used a JL clean sweep with my stock unit to run aftermarket speakers and subs i recently switched to an aftermarket deck tho so i have the cleansweep for sale. . PM me if interested

JL Cleansweep is the way to go, although I replaced the head unit instead. It was actually less money as the cleansweep will be more expensive than several good head units.

Mines a QC but the install is the same. I put an Alpine 400watt 4 channel amp under the drivers seat, lots of room, out of the way. I also replaced the front door speakers with JL Audio VR690's(3 way 6x9) and the rear doors with JL Audio VR600's(2 way 6") and put infinity 3-1/2" in the dash holes. All speakers are direct replacement pieces, no cutting trimming or fitting. The amp is a little tougher because you have to cut all the speaker wires from the radio and run them to the amp, then back to the speaker wires you just cut(cause I didn't want to run new wires into the doors and the factory speaker wire is completely adequate) but it's still 8 wires down to the amp and 8 back up.

Good news is it CRANKS, and with those speakers has very crip clean sound, with enough bass to boot. Could run a sub, but I don't want to lose my under seat storage or load flat floors... . Mega may have the romm, quad doesn't.

There is a 13 inch sub in my quadcab and I still have the fold flat floor on both sides in the back. Oo. :D The sub is under the front center seat replacement. No loss for me since I drive a stick and always have the console down anyway, which is still there. It is the new JL stealthbox that replaces the front center seat. As a result, quad cabs do have the room for a sub and get to have an 8 foot bed. :D Oo.

Megacabs are great too, but I just wanted the 8 foot bed. Would like to have both, but that isn't an option now. :(

This might not be quite the high end help that you need or want, but have you looked at what Crutchfield has to offer? They have been really good on many of my audio problems. Not cheap, but their kits are complete and they have some great adapters that make a lot of installs easy plug-ins.
