The mechanics have had this truck for a month, it is stock besides a edge box. It is a commond rail 04 3500 with about 140k on it. It started smoking and running bad, they first said the motor was bad and I said NO WAY!!!,

Now they are saying rust has got in the system, and ruined the injectors???

2 are stuck open, and others test close to bad.

how?????

did rust form in a plastic tank.

Or in a aluminum aux tank?

or in stainless lines?

No water in collectino bowl.

No warning.

They say they need to replace the lift pump, injector pump and all injectors, fuel rail etc. I feel this CAN NOT BE RIGHT.

IWOULD NOT POST HERE BUT THIS IS KILLING ME POCKET BOOK TO NO HAVE THIS TRUCK, AND I CAN AFFORD THERE, SOLUTION?

Little history, this truck lost power a few years back and they replaced the turbo, injection pump, fuel rail, lift pump etc, to find out it was a bad fuel filter ( I know they are genious).

Any help appriciated. ALSO IT IS NOT MY SILVER TRUCK BELOW IT IS ANOTHER.

i have seen this on one other truck that came through my dealership. when we pulled the push tubes out there was a good amount of rust on them. he called his insurance company and they paid for all of it. the only reason chrysler didn't cover it was he had no proof the fuel filter had ever been changed. and he had his own fuel pump at his place of business. but indeed we replaced every thing from the tank forward. i think he could have gotten away with just a cp3 and injectors, and push tubes, also a new fuel filter. all of the other stuff could have been cleaned.
