Howdy peeps -
I got me a couple mini projects that I need some expert differential guru advice/help with, and wanted to ping the congregation to ask if one or some of y'all would be willing to 'show' me how to put together two axles. I've done almost every reassembly of nearly everything, but axles are something I haven't done yet and I want to learn how, but I need someone to show me the ropes that had been there, done that, and has the discovered-what-not-to-forget-so-I-don't-jack-it-all-up experience. I'm more than happy to make it worth your while and driving time, whether in $ or cases of good beer, whichever, so long as we both come away happy and not thirsty.
I have a Dana 80 rear (dually, lim slip, disc, 4:10) from an '02 Cummins 1-ton that has been apart for months, needs to be reassembled, with all new everything including R&P.
Also have a Dana 60 front (dually, open, disc, 4:10) from a '79 1-ton, that needs everything new but already have the R&P.
I'd be happy to make a day of it, grill some steaks, drink some beers, and maybe make it a "shop day" out at my 'ranch' in Peyton.
So if anyone would be willing to share their diff experience and can tell me which parts/manufacturers to get (and avoid), and can help with the buildup, I'd be most grateful. I'd like to keep everything inside all Dana (especially the R&P) and all Timkin, but the lim slip I'm out of my element for sources for new parts. I have local guys here where I can get the parts, just need to know which ones.
Many thanks,
- Sam (M2)
