Dropped my old injectors off at the injection shop yesterday, today they say they are popping at 230bar and if they shim them to get 250 bar the spray pattern will be off, which i think is B. S. he wants $50 each for new tips and rebuild, is he full of crap?

which tips can i go with instead of stock?

or

can i get new injectors for around $300

old inj # kdal 59 p 2

851 245bar

bosch 937

thanks

POD's from ebay

From DTR:
Thanks to DBF I was able to track down RaeLyn at Mountainwest Turbo & Supply. Here is the new e-mail address you can get them at: -- email address removed --

I just bought a set of the POD injectors with a installation kit from them for $335 + Shipping, which is the best current price I've seen yet!

Raelyn used to sell on ebay, but we haven't seen them on there awhile. Evidently they still sell POD's. Good deal I have a set in my 91. 5.

Yes POD's. That's it. You'll also need a set of the copper adaptor bushings 7mm-9mm, about another $50 unfortunately.

i just got a set of tips from the injector shop p/n 0433175040 supposed to be the power wagon tips? will they be any good on my old injector bodies? thanks

If they are power wagons you will lose 10-20 horsepower, but, will burn very clean. POD's are the way to go! (as stated above).

I got good performance and MPGs with stockers. With a PDR HX35 and ported 18cm housing, I still pegged the 40psi boost gauge. Of course, I was non intercooled, but still, that is quite a bit for stockers. Pump flowed 120cc.

$50 each for new tips and setting the pressure is about right. I dont see why he says you wont get a good spray pattern if he reshims them. Stock pressure is 245bar, which is good enough for the application.

No, but when you get them, let us know. Or at least PM me with the info on pop pressure, hole count and angle, 7/ 9mm tips, etc

Familiar Part Number

That number (Bosch 433 175 040) looked familiar. I looked it up in my fuel systems cataloge and it turns out to be the very same injectors I have. :D Duh!

They are 7mm nozzles. I purchased a set (complete injector)to replace 9mm injectors in a 1989 Bluebird. That thing ran wicked. It would blow smoke and NEVER clear up (when loaded with kids). Everyone wanted to drive it. It would flat out move. I would pull hills on the four lane at 65 when other buses wouldn't at 50. I would often slow up on the long steady hills and allow the other bus(s) to catch me then hammer it and pull away in a cloud of smoke. It would literally accelerate UP a hill fully loaded.

Then the transmission burned up :( :{ ;)

I have them now, in a box, and I am currently installing them into my 1990 pickup.

They are 180 HP application for CPL #856

got them $8. 26 each and he threw in the seals around the hold down nut and the copper horseshoes.

also i have a set of 7mm and 9mm sealing washers if anyone needs them.

I so wish that I drove for your company Greenleaf. I drive a 95 GMC Bluebird with some lame Cat motor. It's amazing how helpless you can feel when you can only do 50mph up a hill on I-95 at 5PM just to top out at 62mph going down the other side, empty.

@ 6. 00 each..... I don't think so.

Here is an older tip. The John Deere Model "R", 1949 vintage service manual sez... ... .....

The copper injector washers can be reused provided they are anneled (sp) heated to a cherry red in other words.

I forget the remainder of said instructions. cool in oil or something.

Jay, you know anything about this??? What this does, etc.

I used to do that to motorcycle head gaskets! Heat them gently with a oxy/ acetylene torch, then drop them in a bucket of water. It makes them soft and pliable again.

I didn't see that in my R manual... ... but I skipped all the big words anyway! :-laf

Even if you don't "quench" (drop them in oil or water to cool them quickly) them they will still be "annealed" (proper sp ;) )

BUT... new ones will be dead flat and will seal better. Can you get by using the old ones? Sure.

I've used old ones many times but my choice is to use new if I can plan ahead enough to have them handy. ;)

Hmm 5 hole tippers eh? Sound like the on the market so called 190's or 185's? I would guess a minimal HP gain since you are nonIC'd.

Edit, what I meant to say was minimal at best or loss of HP. As nonIC'd owners way back when loss HP when switching to the '185's.
