I will run 1200 up a 7% 75mph with ac on (comp on 3+4) that's empty. you hardly tow 5k without down shifting due to egt's not due to power cus there is tons there left to use. towing with comp at 2+2.

so i need more air!

ehhaust manifold?

Intake manifold?

new pac brake (the one now is 3" but after it it's all 4" pipe and straight thru muffler)?

5" pipe?

straight pipe? :rolleyes: will that do anything

or any other options are welcome. i'd like stay as cheap as possible as business is slow and dough it tight. but my guessit the pac brake is killing me.

im gonna try to pressure test from tubo to intake for leaks tommorrow. any recomendations on doing this if i don't see any i'll figure somthong out
 
How much boost are you seeing? Running DDII's only for towing I can tow my 6K trailer up a 7% grade at 1200F. I have a stock turbo too!
 
driving a grade empty 10-15psi

same grade w/5k 22-26psi

max at 5+5 on the comp is 42psi

johncameron is that in 6th or 5th with my 4500 4th will bring temps to 900-1000deg

just sucks to shift when there still a ton of pull left
 
That is in 6th. I think my stock turbo helps me towing at lower RPM's. When I downshift my EGT's only drop to ~1100. I guess you have to downshift just to spool your turbo into it's efficiency range which is probably somewhere above 2100RPM. I fI turn on my Banks box it is almost impossible to keep EGT's under 1300. Have you tried towing on 1X1?

dropping to 4th reduces the load hence the lower egts and boost in 4th i dont recall

turning the comp off helps to the tune of a 100 deg or so 1+5 is all ive tried and both are dog slow 1+5 still runs hot (egts) not enough power decreases speed and lowers r's increasing my egt's

I just want to use the power i have with in reason

gonna go do some repairs on the truck now if i have time i'll check the innercooler for leaks.
