I am new at this so please bear with me!

I have a 1999 2500, 4X4,QC,auto,3:54RE, Vanakin Box, B&DA Injectors,Banks Monster Exhaust, Banks boost foolery, K&N AF, B&DA Torque & Pressure Lock, 3rd gen B&DA Torque Conf. 80K on the OD.

Problem: First started March 06 towing up hill, MAJOR loss of power, 15 to 20 mph. Changed FF problem went away until last week.

Drove 160 miles roundtrip, empty, shut truck off, when restarted, no power under any load. Next day ran ok to truck stop (4 miles) refueled. restarted same loss of power. Serviced K&N, installed new fuel filter, old one was changed out March 06 less than 4k, filter & fuel both looked good. No check engine light on until day before yesterday. Was on yesterday but went out after a couple of stops and restarts (short trip 10 miles (same power loss).

Have appointment with local Dodge Dealer 25 miles away, to run diagnostic tests. Don't like dealers nor trust, however I'm out in the boon docks!

Is this a lift pump issue? or pluged tank filter? or what?

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks

From your list of mods , I'm woundering if you left out of your discription or truck a set of gauges [ fuel pressure , boost , ect ] ?
With any mods or not it seems to be best to have more gauges to monitor the trucks performance & dianose problums .
As for the check lite , there are soft codes [ that means the lite comes on when the computor see's that something is out of spec. then returns to normal at some point ] and hard codes [ some part , circut , is always out of spec. , also more detramental to system ] .
The dealers are much like every body els , some good , some bad , with the manufacture keeping them at a disavantage [ the dealer is almost treated like we are when looking for support ] .
The best thing you can do is have as much info as possible before going to get service , and make sure you get detailed info when they do any testing , then repair .

I had a similar problem with my '02 last year. It would loose power/ throttle wouldn't respond then all of a sudden it would be fine again for awhile. Dealer told me it was my chip(Power puck). I believed them and went with the Edge Comp box, ran awesome for awhile, then happened again. Local diesel shop pulled the code and it was actually my injector pump going out, unfortunately the comp box has you splice into a wire on the VP44 and it voids the warranty. I ended up eating that one and buying a Hot Rod VP44 and FASS system, fixed everything. I'm not sure what pump your truck has(is that a mechanical pump in 99?) But you have the same symptoms I had. I'm the same way though, don't trust the dealer to much either. Not sure if that helps, hope it does though.

With all those mods I would hope you bought a set of gauges. It would really suck to lose a $1400 injection pump over a $7 filter or weak lift pump.
