My gauges on the dash have quit as well as the overhead computer. The effected parts are mileage & tripmeter, speedo, all overhead gauges (mpg, miles until empty, compass, temp). Cruise control works fine. Then days, weeks or months later starts working again like nothing ever happened. This happens every winter after the 5 mile long road home gets muddy. The road is covered with magnesium chloride for summer dust control{not sure if this is related to problem or not}. It will usually start working again reliably in March.

Checked and cleaned PCM & ECM connections and it did not help. Checked and cleaned all the grounds that I could find and that did not help. The console computer says CCd when its out. Any ideas as to what I should start looking at next? I remember some other post that seemed similiar but I cant find them right now. Would an obd scan tool help since I can't check the dash codes?

On my 97 the crank position sensor failed and caused similar problems. Not sure what the PCM controls on your 2001. On mine I replaced the PCM to no avail and then the CPS fixed it. My CPS is located just above the damper on the front of engine.

The overhead display is telling you the CCDB, or Chrysler Collision Data Bus is not functioning. This bus carries the data between the engine and powertrain components.

Have you done any wiring under the dash? The possibilities are the PCM, ECM and the CTM. Most of us know the first 2, buy you might possibly not know that the Central Timer Module also plays a role in the data handling. You really need a DRBIII to check the operation of these items. Yeh, that probably means a trip to the dealer.

I'll order a speed sensor tomarrow. The local dealership has absolutly no mechs that will be allowed to breath on my truck. If the sensor doesn't fix it maybe I'll have to go to Carson Dodge. Is it worth trying an obdII?

Speed sensor, Cleaning all contacts and grounds(ecm & pcm), dielectric grease, cam position sensor, yelling at it did not help. It finally came back on when the outside tempurature hit 50. It went out again for two days and now is back on again. Code is 1681. Need a new pcm?

I've got the same issue now, but only it rained about 3 inches yesterday. I did find some water inside the cab that had come down the pass. side A-pillar and from the overhead console. I do have an antenna bored through the roof, but it was dry up there. Are there any other places water may have come in and got behind the dash and found it's way into a circuit?

Send it further south for the winter and have it return after it warms up?:-laf:-laf:-laf:-laf:-laf
