Help!!!! Dealership just removed NV5600 from my 2000 with a 160000 miles on it, and found syncronizer problems and one gear with broken tooth. To my suprize no parts available through DC for any kind of repair. Called a few after market locations for help and found the same problem. How could their not be any parts for a truck that can possibly run 500,000 miles with out an overhaul. This is why I purchased a diesel so that I could keep it for a long time. Does anyone have any suggestions.

Called them and they are out of them also. Standard recomends that I upgrade to a 1 3/8" shaft which requires new flywheel, clutch, starter spacer, and the new trans for $4500. I can see where this is leading 5 or 6 thousand.

Blumenthal - Light duty (405) 232-9557 or (800) 262-9557

Blumenthal - Medium/heavy duty (405) 236-4800 or (888) 236-4800

I was thinking about posting a seperate thread but I think here should work. Now that the NV5600 is no longer produced. More than likely parts/trannies someday will be scarce if available at all; what to do? Can we replace the NV5600 with a 3rd gen transmission? What is that a G56? Is it bolt in? IF not bolt in what modifications will be required? Cost? Anybody done these yet? Inquiring minds want to know?

For some of us it would also require a gear change from 4. 10 to 3. 73 to be liveable...

What are the 3rd gen 6sp ratios vs the 2nd gen ratios

The G56 with 3. 73s (in OD) is equal to the NV5600 with 4. 10s (in OD)...

The reason 4. 10s are not offered with the G56...

Here is the on going search, Dealership is checking to see if new 6 spd trans out of an 06 will bolt up. And what changes need to be made. I have checked with Eaton Fuller, they also produce a 6 spd with similar ratio's that I know will bolt up to the back of the Cummins in Medium duty trucks. Then comes the trick is to bolt the transfer case up to the back of Fuller. I talked to advanced adapters to see if they have done anything yet as well, but as of yet nothing for the 5600. Advanced adapters does make adapters for the 4500 from the Getrag. I do not have the ratio's for the D. C. 2006 mercedes 6spd but do have the ratio's for the 1st generation NV5600 with 1. 25" input shaft.

1st---5. 63

2nd---3. 38

3rd---2. 04

4th---1. 39

5th---1. 0

6th---0. 73

REV---5. 63

Back with more news soon

If that adapters thing don't work out, the only thing left would be to get a G56 and a NV271 transfer case and adjust the length of the driveline. $$$$$ you bet!!
