Where's the best place to get replaceable parts?

Florida Dodge Dealers

OK, A couple of weeks ago, I got hung up on the farm, thanks to a huge chunk of concrete in a mudhole, that stopped me right at the front diff. I noticed today I had a little oil leaking out of the bottom of the diff. ALL it is is a seal leak at the bottom, I figure the pressure of the concrete must have pushed the seal(ant) out - the cover is not bent. If I take it to the dealer, I don't want any horror stories about them reflashing my engine or any of that crap. Am I in danger of that kind stuff if I go? Also, will my warranty cover every bit of what they do, including any gear oil and additives? If it's going to cost me, or they're going to screw something up I'd rather do it myself, but it would be easier to get them to do it. I realize every place is different, but I'm looking for a gen. consensus.

BTW - Thanks for the info on the lockers - previous post

Since it was not a part defect, the dealer most likley will not cover ANYTHING they do on your truck. They are probably going to charge you. Its really not a hard fix, have you considered doing it yourself? All you need is a tube of Permatex, plus the gear lube.

I agree the dealer will probably cover nothing. I also believe the Ram did not come with a gasket on the front differential. You can purchase one from NAPA, I have the part number at home if ya need it.

My concern would be if it leaks and nothing is bent, why? Look closely when you have the cover off.

I don't know if they will cover your leak on the pumkin due the the crash an bash. As far as fluids go, Mopar synthetic for the front runs about $20 a quart. Way over priced. I put Amsoil in mine and used a can of Gasket (The Right Stuff) from Napa. No more leaks and you don't have to wait for this stuff to cure. It is good to go with in a minute after you get everything put together. :D :D :D

Who's to know?

All valid points, but...

How are they going to know what happened if I don't tell them? It's not obvious what caused it to leak, just that it leaks.

They will know when they see a big fresh scrape on the Differential housing. There is no way it is leaking and there is no dent or scrape. Hitting concrete will definatley leave a mark.

Just go see Henry down at Ringgold Dodge, he'll fix you up and treat you right. Just don't go on Monday AM. It won't be a warranty repair, but it is simple, and something you could easly do yourself. There is no gasket, but sealer, and the whole thing is simple. I do it at home as part of routine maint.

Denny:) :) :)
