Can smeone post the difference between the 4. 10 and the 3. 54 gears. cruising at 70 and 85 what are the rpm diffeences between the two with the automatic? the biggest tires I am going to put on are 33 so should I get the 4. 10? if somone can post quickly because I am going late this night to get the price and possibly oredr it.

I'm not sure on the exact rpm differences, but if you are going to tow, the latest TDR mag stated not to get the auto with the 3:54.

Looking at your sig - if you are getting the GV overdrive - I'd go with the 4:10's.

At 85-87MPH I am close to (but under) 2,700 RPM with my 5-speed at 3. 55 (3. 54) gears.

I rode in TxDieselKids auto CTD and his auto had a much faster overdrive,, big time difference. He was around 2,600RPM at about 100,, I wasn't driving.

My top speed with my 5-speed is about 110,, 115 if I wait forever, and go downhill. . My truck starts defueling. (3K-3,100RPM)

Stefan Kondolays truck has been to 130MPH,, he didn't say RPM,, but said it wasn't fun going that fast in his ShortBed QC 4x4

Hope this helps,, Congrats on the truck. I'll have to go up there and race ya one day. :D but I just know you'd never do anything like that.....

I have 4. 10's in my truck with the auto transmission. I am @ 70 mph I turn 2250 rpms... ..... Above that I have been up to 100 to 105 and gets real close to 3200 rpms. I love the auto 4. 10 set up. Towing heavy 12,000lbs it realy goes good. I can run in O D the whole time except for steep grades.

On another note though, I am already looking to trans upgrade

on a realitivly new truck (15,000 miles), to handle the heavy load and to put the power where it belongs, On the Ground... ... :D

Test drive a H O six speed and you will feel a difference. I'm just a lazy kind of person and don't tow enough to want to shift all the time... ..... Greg

I don't know just how fast my truck will go, but with 265-75x16's i'm clocking 2500 rpm's at 70 mph. Good luck on your new truck. user name - RCrawford, handle - Whiskers.
