I have a 2000 cummins 24 valve with 175,000 with the following mods:
DTT billet transmission
Head Studs
Up graded fuel line and fitting no bango fittings
BD turbo tubes and clamps
Stage 2 air intake
ATS exhaust manifold
5" exhaust
150 GPH Fass lift pump
66/14 Sledpuller turbo 50-55psi
TST comp box
Tim Barber mach 6 injectors 220 hp
Hot or HO vp44 from blue line diesle less then 3 weeks ago with pump cover.
Edge timing box
Pulling set up:
Pro Comp xterrain 35x12. 5x16 on 10" rims
7. 5' heavy built traction bars with leafs clamped
6" skyjacker lift w/3" body
pulls in 3rd gear low range
Have about 12 pulls on this truck this year we found codes and symptomes of the VP44 going bad so that was replaced.
The pull two days following the pump replacement the truck was bouncing off the rev limiter aprox 3200-3300 rpms at 120' "pretty tight track". Truck does have a torque converter lock-up switch, wasn't applied though.
I have been to 4 pulls since and I haven't been able to get the rpms out of the truck on loose tracks or tight tracks maxed out at 2600-2700 rpms. . with out much smoke, tons of smoke in the start leaving with aprox 5psi of boost cleans up pretty quick though.
Runnig down the road can pull 3500 rpms "feels pretty smooth"
Fuel pressure to the VP44 doesn't drop below 15 psi
I have tried running with out the timing box edge no differance
I ran a ground from the battery to the comp box and checked all conections
The only codes I ever pull are over boost codes since the (pump replacement)
Tried to do a test pull with D6 high track cat aprox 50,000 lbs lots of tire spins and speed was able to pull and get 3200 rpms, but not while hooked to the sled.
Just wondering what I should do next????
Have heard valve train, go to the smaller exhaust housing for the turbo. . just to the point of running out of ideas. .
Thanks
Jon
