Could the right brake pull be something other than calipers?

How much back pressure can I run w/60# springs?

Hello,

I just picked up my Jacobs E-brake today and hope to install it tomorrow afternoon. I notice in the instruction manual that the solenoid bracket goes on the fire wall in the same location the psychotty intake goes thru. I do not have the psychotty YET, but plan to order and install it very soon... . do I move the E-brake soleniod bracket to another location??? and if so, where?

Thanks in advance for your recommendations!

You will also notice that the supplied vacumn lines and wiring are to lenth.
with little extra. Looks like you will need to experment with location. or decide if filter is needed that much.

Bill, MikeR was faced with the same situation... he mounted the Cummins/Jacobs solenoid to the inner fender sheet metal between the three OE filter housing studs.

Right,I had to extend the wiring and the vacuum hoses so I could mount the solenoid in the area where the factory airbox was at.
I'd suggest you wait and install both items at the same time.

What fun that was! I installed the Jake this afternoon in 4. 25 hours total. Not too bad on time I thought, I could do it again in under 3 easy... . now that I know where the ECM is located!!!!

The instructions say you dont need to remove anything to get to the ECM, but I had to remove the upper air intake casting, and the fuel filter housing had to be coaxed out of the way to get my arms down there. The guys at the 1-800 # were great to deal with too.

I love the operation of the brake, I have a question for anyone who might know: will the brake turn on when the cruise control is set? to me it does not seem as if it will.

AND... . on the topic of the Psychotty air intake fitting in the same area as the soleniod... . I moved the soleniod towards the drivers side a few inches, and I only had to shorten a vacuum line and some electrical to make it fit. The Psychotty will work without a problem!

Thanks everyone for your help !

Bill,
No,the ebrake will not engage while you are driving with the cruise on. The 'gas' pedal has to return to idle position and be there for 1. 5 seconds for the ebrake to engage.
When the cruise control is driving your truck the 'gas' pedal moves back and forth just like as if you had your foot moving it.

Just a note since you will be installing a Psychotty... don't turn your dash vents to the off postion. When you are not using the A/C,leave the knob on the 'floor only' mode. If you turn the dash vents off and then engage your ebrake, you will get alot of loud deep droning in the cab because the ebrake is backfeeding noise through the Psychotty. I always leave my vent in the floor only mode. Try it,you'll see what I mean.

Mike

Thanks for the advise... . I didnt think the brake would operate while cruising. Thanks for confirming.

I'll keep in that in mind what you said about the ventilation sys... . I dont normally turn it to the OFF position anyways... but I'll check out the noises once the psychotty goes in!

off to work for me---

Bill,

The E-Brake WILL turn on with the cruise control set IF you are on enough of a down grade to push your truck faster than the setting of the cruise control. The same rules apply—whenever the engine is defueled for one to two seconds the brake is applied.
