Well... . it wansn't my heater core after all... . the steel coolant tube at the heat exchanger (transmission cooler, whatever. . ) is rotten... the one at the rear of the cooler. How hard is it to get at the back side of the cooler ? do I have to remove the cooler itself ? Looks like a tight spot to work at. Glad it happened so close to my shop. Truck has been parked all week, no time to look at it until tonite. I hate to dig in now at 9 pm, need the shop free tomorrow at 8 for business and I'm sure I'll need a part... .

anyone else fixed one of these and have any recommendations? Do I bend up a new line or is it something I have to get from chrysler... . can't see where it goes into the cooler...

Whis I had seen this earlier, I had my turbo off and I was looking at the front side. Are you sure it is a steel line? On the front there is like a 2" piece of hose that connects the pipe to the front line.

nah, it's steel... er... (how bout rust and antifreeze now), line goes in at the rear of the cooler..... it's gonna suck to get at... . these damn trucks are tall fendered and deep engine bayed... ... hard on the ol' back to dig into. I think turbo removal and possibly drop the head pipe and it will be easier to get to. I'm just afraid to get in there and need a part I don't have or can't source quickly... . hard to move the old girl once it's apart. Why do we love these old rigs so much ?..... oh yeah, at the end of the month I don't have to pay $1000. 00 to the bank. ;)... . 'nuf said.
