Avion owners manual?

Leave Prodigy plugged in if not towing?

I'm in the process of buying a used travel trailer. The dealer is recommending a "SAFETRIP" warranty plan. Has anyone purchased this. Is coverage available in your area? Help

The dealer recommends it because he profits from selling each policy. If you are going that way, read the fine print VERY carefully to see how they can get out of paying a claim and what IS and what is NOT covered. Typically you are better off without those warrantee plans, not often you come out ahead and the warrantee companies know that. Caveat emptor.

In Trailer Life magazine it seems like 1/2 the letters asking for magazine intervention are about extended warranty issues the are not being honored. Save the money and look after the problems yourself. Trailers dont have much really expensive stuff in them.

Normally, I would agree with your comments about warranty packages, however, this is an eight year old trailer. Things will probably start to go wrong soon. The package covers all systems with new replacements with a $50 deductable. At $1500 (Cdn) for 5 years, what are my chances of having to replace a fridge, water heater, A/C unit?

Never mind, I think I just answered my own question! A complete replacement of a unit is unusual. Parts/labour on components will probably be less than a $100 per incident which makes the payback unlikely.

Thanks for the bandwidth.

I would check Good Sam's extended warranty. Not that I do not trust the others but I have done business with Good Sam. Good Sam repaired and no questions asked.

I had a 1976 Dreamer slide in camper and currently a 87 Airstream trailer and have had no appliance problems with either one. No more use than these units usually get it takes a lot of years to wear one out, leaks are the worst problems on older rigs.
