Tried a total seat re-build on my '07 3500 Chassis Cab, but still not the comfort of my '95 Dodge. I still feel the seat is smaller than my '95.

The custom shop in my town that worked on my seat knew of the design flaws and did the best to correct. They have a 80-90% success rate on the 3rd generation Dodges. They have over 30 years experience re-building seats

My questions to you guys are:

[*]Anybody out there that has Superior seats from Elkhart, IN or National air-ride seats from IL? Both are pricey.

[*]How much work to install a 2nd generation seat, maybe a '94 or '95 seat? They look pretty close by measurement. What would be a good junkyard price to pay?

My chassis cab is parked until I can resolve lower back and sciatic nerve problems. I thought it was just my size (6'3", 250 lbs), but have met numerous other guys all sizes with the same back problems with their 3rd generation trucks.

Thanks for any input. I appreciate your help!

P. S. No pain driving my '95.

i just added 2 inches of a medium foam under the factory foam. which leveled out the seat. and relieved my back problems. don't go over 2 inches or you may hit your head on the roof, during a bump. as i already tried it.

Dennis, are you sure it's the seat that's getting smaller? Just kidding.
As mentioned on another thread a couple months ago, I found the memory foam seat
cushion at footsmart.com really helped my back. It levels out the seat and is much
more comfortable. Been great for road trips too. It might be worth at least a
temporary fix.

i went to western auto and bought a universal bucket seat cover with all kinds of padding in it including lumbar, i installed it, took a pair of seizors and cut open the packets on the seat i removed a little at a time until i had a perfect fit for me. next i purchased a piece of leather and a quart of contact cement, coated both and stuck them together. best seat i have ever had in a pickup nearly as good as my peterbuilt, and will last as long as the truck. my beauty skills are not as pretty as some but comfort overrides

I bought some Corbeau seats for mine, but the side bolsters were so tall, I couldn't get in and out of the truck over them! I have another style Corbeau on order right now. I actually sat in one at the 4Wheel store, and I think it will work perfectly. I'll let the board know when I get it in.

Thanks to all of you who responded to my seat problem. I think I will continue to look for a clean seat out of a '95 Dodge and try to install it in my chassis cab. I know the comfort of that seat and I hope it will resolve my back problems.

However, I'm still open to any new suggestions.

2nd gen seats

Dennis, I have a set of 2nd gen seats in the front of my truck. It only took me about 2 weeks total to modify them to fit. They turned out preety good. All I have done is added 6" of new foam I found online.
