Leaving for long trip next week, and have to buy a 'decent' air compressor for emergencies and to be free from trying to find one at a fuel stop. It especially irks me that I've seen places charge 50 cents for a few minutes of air!

Camp World has a 12 volt compressor: "Interdynamic's ' TruckAir'" w/275 psi and boasts a large motor and internal cooling fan... .

I've seen posts of an under the hood unit that is said to be great, but the cost was waaaaay up there to.

Anyone have sugesstions?

Thanks!

I have one of the TruckAir units. It works OK in an emergency. I wouldn't want to air a 33" tire up from flat with it. I only use it to get back to street pressure after running in the sand. You can still take a nap between tires. The fan will keep it alive somewhat longer than the cheaper units. They just aren't designed for continuous duty.

I'm running Michelin LTX mud and snow radials. 16 inch. I usually run them at 70#.

Would the TruckAir unit be okay for 'topping' them off, that is, adding just a pound or two to get to 70?

It's been my experience that those last couple of pounds are the slowest to squeeze in.....

Thanks for the input... .

Extreme Outback has a couple of compressors that have been talked about on here before. I am serriously thinking about the 3/4 hp model. It's a little much, but I want something that will run an impact wrench to change a tire also.
