Ok - not all the time but say every 5th time when I switch to high beams and then switch back to low - NO HEADLIGHTS. I have to switch back and forth to get them working. Is this the switch in the steering assembly? If so, is it hard to change and what may I expect for $$$$.

I took the load off the headlight switch by using a headlight wire harness kit from Suvlights.com . The kit uses two relays, taking power direct from the battery and bypassing the switch (except for power to activate the relays). Kit takes a few minutes to install.

Also switched to Sylvania SilverStar bulbs at the same time. I'm pleased with the increase in light.

hammersley: Go to the suvlights.com site and look under Headlight wire harness. I bought the dual relay single battery kit for the 9004 headlamps. They also have a kit for dual batterys, but I didn't think it necessary for running stock wattage bulbs.

Takes about 5 minutes to install. maybe a little more if you've never changed the headlight bulb or have big hands.

Are you sure that is the right part number? The Dave Smith Motors parts website says there is no such part by that number... I have never had problems finding parts on the in the past.

"Are you sure that is the right part number?"

No.

However, my model year 2000 Dodge Ram Quad Cab parts catalog shows the part number I posted.

The Koller Dodge Parts Department shows the number and list price I posted (Leave the account code blank and enter the part number).

Let me know if you think it's the right number.

If you purchase the headlight wiring kit

don't you still have to replace the switch on the turn signal arm - or does this bypass it?
