HELP SPARKS ARE FLYIN! what is this blue box?

Ok, so im under the dash getting ready to install guage wiring. i come accross 4 spiced in wire. so i folow them under the dash and bumped them and sparks were flyin! so i got them out and would you know it they were cut wires! not pulled out or anything... ... ... so i traced them to the wires that are spliced in to this blue box... ... ... ... the white/red is constant power, and i have no clue what the thick blue, the green or the little blue one go. the little blue one is attaced under the radio some where! HELP! and i am the second owner.

and the first owner i guess has no idea what electical tape is eather... ... . ductape all over the splices

The only blue connector I know of under the dash, close to the steering column is the connector for the brake controller.....

1 hot lead, 1 from the brake stop light switch, 1 going to the trailer connector in the back to supply the brakes with power and the last I assume is a ground. .

thats what i am thinking as well... ... i traced the one blue wire to yet another splice under the dash... ..... near a square hole above where the manual shifter would be... ... that is why i think your right! now i just need to get that plug out! any trick you know of for that?

That's the trailer brake controller connection. My bet is that the previous owner took the brake controller when the truck was sold and didn't bother to disconnect the brake controller wire bundle. I would just disconnect the blue connector and keep it in case you ever need to install a brake controller.

The above poster is right on target. That is the electric trailer brake connector. I think that 1 wire is 12 volts, 1 is ground, 1 is the brake light signal wire and the last is what tells the controller that you are applying the brakes...
