I think it's more the Govt's fault, than the parents. These people believe,"the more children you have, the more it shows love for your mate". Maybe it's time to re think this, but it's the Govt that's dangling the "free ride" carrot. I'd bet more than a few of these people are told to "sign here". In their native tongue of course. For the most part, I feel they show good family values (maybe they can teach some yuppies this) and I cant fault them for wanting something better for their children.

IMO religion is a good legit point to touch on. One has to learn to say "when".
I say we dump the govt freebee programs (for both illegals, and non productive citizenry), legalise drugs, and wait for the gene pool to clear up.
FYI At my company ( big chemical co. You'd know the name) we cant get any applicants to pi$$ a clean sample. Why not legalise it? Out of the last 20 applicants, only 2 passed this test. #ad

I think we have hit many points right on target. But I also think we are missing a few big ones. One is how do we as Americans face racial diversity. Do we tell them to go back home? Or do we learn from other cultures and take the good points from it to expand our own lives?They would also learn from us. When we open our minds I have found that people around you open theirs. I have tryed to learn something new everyday of my life. I have learned many things from this site and the good people posting here. I also have learned that the truth of many things in life are somewhere between the right and the left or the two storys.

If you look up the word pride(over opinion of ones self)you might not use it too much. I like the word honor!Be honorable. It is honorable to work 8 hours for 8 hours pay,it is honorable to teach your children these lessons. Somehow the word pride got spread and the meaning was lost.

My personal heritage is lost. I cannot find out where my grandfather was born or how his father was married. I may be able to still learn the language and if I had the money go back to the old country. My Dads parents died of cholera when he was three. He was raised by relatives who took the family holdings for this exchange. So as his son I have no inheritance except what I have worked for. Not ashamed to work any job and have in the past. It is not what you do,but how you do it.

Maybe our educational system should teach the differance between right and wrong instead of computers. They do not have to call it the ten comandments. Call it the ten ethics!!!!!!
And bring back a little punishment,not so much beat the crap out of them as humiliate them in front of there peers. And teach. Not just go through the motions teaching them only enough to pass these so called grade level tests. But give the child a education from your experiances in life,tell them that hard work is appreciated and rewarded. Any hard work!

Did you ever try to figure if America has a culture? Being 200 years young and having a make-up of every possible culture on the planet I feel our culture is yet to develop... can it ever. Will it be limited to hot dogs, apple pie and so on?

In Southern Calif. we have Little Tokyo, Chinatown, little Saigon, an area that caters to the Cuban people the list goes on and on. I do not address the Mexican populations repesentation... it blankets our state, certainly So. CAL. While some cultures are "compatable" with ours others are not i. e. , a few years back an Asian family was arrested for butchering a puppy in their kitchen! Do we learn to accept that. . NO! You are in the United States by your own choice and must fit in or face arrest, resentment, or just plain rejection. Race wars will always be, to a degree, but as one decides to live in this country they must face the reality of having taken on a new start as our ancestors did, arrogance does not play a part in graciosness.

I would think that an oppressed person would be quite grateful to have the protection of a country as ours, however so often we feel as though we are abused by these people. Acts of kindness are to be appreciated rather than taken advantage of. No, this is not about hate, it is simply common sense that seems to be lacking in such an intellectual society.

I agree and believe that free trade should work both ways. If we are moveing our manufacturing base over the borders the companys should be made accountable. The workers in other countrys should have the right to organize or the companys should be penalized to the extent of money that would go in there pockets. How many jobs in America have been lost to foreign soil?Example Nike,all the major car manufacters,clothing,and many others lining their pockets with cheap foreign labor. When I say cheap,how about 5 dollars a day in Maylasia?

In the same breath we also benefit from this with cheaper goods in America. Most of the benifits are going in the CEOs pockets though. Where is the line?just finnished watching the history channel put on Operation Wetback. Interesting,but also allot of speculation on what might happen if borders were opened. According to studys we need 1600 border patrolman to do the job and only 800 now. Job security or waste?There is a hunk of taxpayer money going. Maybe re-study our imigration laws and make it possible to cross legally and pay taxes. Income?

I notice that nearly all those posting are so far from Mexico, that y'all dont really get the big picture. I am far from being a liberal, but I have been to nearly every port of entry on the Texas border, including some remote area of the Rio Grande. These immigrants are doing what I would do if I were in the same position. Dont look at illegal imigrants as second class citizens. Last time I checked, no one controls the situation that they are born in. Many of these illegal imigrants are fathers who are working harder than 90% of the legal American population to support their kids and families. I am sure those who think illegal imigration is a bad thing, have never been in a situation where you risk everything so your family can eat. No where in the world is there such a broad financial disparity than Mexico and the U. S border. Have any of you ever driven the Border highway in El Paso? Do it sometime, and you will understand why people risk there lives coming to the U. S.

Do I support Illegal Imigration? NO! For those that are in this country illegally, I treat them with the same respect and dignity that comes from just being human, and knowing what they had to endure just for a better life. If all the illegal imigrants in central Texas were rounded up and taken back, the construction industry would come to a standstill!

What free trade will do is bring our wages down and foreign countries up,till we meet in the middle,the way I see it they win,we lose. As far as paying taxes,a lot of the illegals I've hired pay more than their share. Many use a phony SS number,the money goes into who knows who's account,plus they sometimes have wages withheld and don't even file when they most likely would of gotten the entire amount back.

Conleyjo has it right, I know if that was the hand I was delt, I would be trying the same thing. Sorry to spread the word "pride", honorable is a good alternative. Diversity is the biggest joke ever, the only way that can work is when it is not pointed up everywhere. Natural social activity will produce situations where everyone "gets along". Pointing-up the backgrounds of other people without there asking makes the situation uncomfortable. Communication between other people (same culture or not) that occurs naturally creates a bond, not seminars on how to love everyone (this is not directed at anyone but the government). Sorry for the raving.

Con & Miller, These points were made clear early on in the post, it's not a matter of hate it's a matter of blazing a new path to correct the problem. If you were to "flee" to another country you would be paying taxes just like anyone else. We have folks reaping the benefits (yours and mine) without paying for it! This is only part of what needs to change. And yes I would be here too if I were born down there... but I would do it legally! I have worked with many less fortunate than myself that are from Mexico... guess what they are legal and d**n proud of it, often more so than those who are "native" to the U. S. A.

Your post was like what mine wanted to be. Street signs; yup good point, welcome to push over country. My question is, not that I want to go to war, "If we are one of the most powerful countries in the world, why do we constantly worry and put presidence on issues regarding people not from our country?"


It is just like how things are made here(not all things mind you) do the absolute minimum to get the product out the door worry about it's problems later. If people took pride in the stuff they did in life, we wouldn't have crapin=crapout it would be qualityin=qualityout. And pride goes a long way too hmmm famliy, work, friends, and oh trucks too, BOMB PRIDE ha ha #ad

It is a shame that some people will not do the work that
is needed. They will not take pride in the job they do.
Some would rather let others provide for them than to
attempt it on their own.
The illegal is used to fill these positions that others will
not do. When companies begin to depend on the illegal to perform,
the position they hold is restricted to the knowledge of the
illegal. The pay rate is then related to the position they hold
and not the knowledge of the worker.

The company I work for hires only legal alians, and have yet
to see any of them grow to a higher level than where they started.
My company says this is there policy when hiring alians from
Mexico. But what is strange, almost all have the same last name.
The manager in charge of all these personell was hired a few years
back. He speaks spanish, this is his strongest point. He cares
nothing about the company, over-looks many of the things that shouldn't be.

What would Charles Ingalls or Grizzly Adams say about the position
of our working force today?
If we form our business around "cheap" labor and depend on it.
We have created the position we are in today.
We have raised our kids
to shoot for the top. But who will start from the bottom? Illegals,
the only ones that will.

I believe this is a good example of a cross section of America. And it also shows what we can acomplish if we open our minds.
I still believe that if we open the border and screen all imigrants we would have a better chance of controlling the situation. Of course we will still have illegals,but at a smaller rate. How about tax incentives to employers to pay a higher wage and benefits?There are many ways to solve this,I just don't think our goverment is thinking it out. They just continue to pour money into it thinking it will dissapear!

Well Fellas,
I came to this country 22 years ago(legally)from Venezuela. I love this country,and that's why I chose to stay. I work hard,and have never depended on anyone but my own family. I believe in controlling the number of immigrants into the U. S,but I also know history,and how most of our ancestors ended up here. My brother is a border patrol agent,and he tells me that most of the illegals they catch,seem like good people. They just wanna make a few bucks,and go back home. I'm sure if it was another country at our borders,we would be having the same problem. And dont tell me Canadians don't cross illegally.

I've got the solution!!We work out a deal where we trade three lazy welfare roll white people for one hard working honest Mexican. The Mexicans will think they are getting a good deal with free trade and all and we will be able to cut our population and gain more productive people in our country.
