Help STOP illegal Aliens

Let me paint a picture of what America will become: Miami - the melting pot. It used to be 90% white, 6%black, 4% Cuban. Then Castro did his thing and a whooooole bunch came over to start a new life with the shirts on their backs. They are really, really great people! Then, all sorts of latins from different countries moved to town and they all hate each other... . a Panamanian can spot one of those **** Columbians at 1/4 mile! Then, add into the cocktail all the different black cultures from 2 dozen different islands... strange languages and traditions. So, what has happend in the last 20 years is that the American Black in Miami is no longer a "second class" citizen, but a fifth-class citizen! There is now more racial tension, religeous tension and violent crime than ever before... My mom's parents came over from Germany with $13 between them. They needed a sponsor to enter the US, and even then it was provisional! They learned to read and write english, worked rediculously hard their whole lives and retired well-off. My vote is, close the boarders, throw out ALL the *undesireables* and clean the slate. Some of you made good points about comming in for a short period and such... Australia screens immigrants per profession... if they need a certain type of worker, they let some in, if not... T. S. I sorta like the idea of sending our indegents south... heck, that idiot Jimmy Carter let in all the crimials out of Cuba's jails!

Saw a TV special while the Olypics were on. In Australia they are begging for foreigners to imigrate. Some of the foreigners start comunes and very seldom contact outsiders. New zealand I understand has much rougher imigration laws. You must prove a proffession,money in the bank,and someone to vouch for one. Not to mention limits.

To sum it up. We need to open our eyes to whos being hurt by our imigration laws. Mostly the Mexicans. Why do we not have a problem at our northern borders to the extent of our southern?Could it be that the population is anglo or is it we have nothing to offer them?Probably a little of both.
Mexicos education system is non-existant,it has a corrupt police system,goverment,and cannot police its own borders. So we are supposed to do it?

Put our border patrol on the checkpoints and open them. Screen the imigrants for felons. Issue green cards and tell them "No job,Can't stay!We can either have them as illegals or taxpayers. Which would you rather have?

One of the room mates I had in the Marines was from Beirut Lebanon. He was very smart, had an electrical engineering degree. Was going to school in Oregon on some sort of school visa. Wanted to become an American. The people who make citizens out of people like him said, want to be an American, join one of our armed services. Get an Honorable Discharge, and we will give you the test. I helped him study for this test. There were questions about America I didn't know. The test they give is a good one, and you can bet if they pass it, they will be more familiar with American knowledge than most kids at a university.

This is what I dont understand. Why did he have to do all of this to become an American when I see thousands of people in a formation taking an oath to get their citizenship hours after they get here???

I helped pull Cubans and Haitians from the water who were trying to swim to Key West... its only 90 miles. Some get very close. Some actually make it. The ones who make it are declared citizens. The ones we plucked out of the water who were injured and taken ashore for treatment were granted a citizenship. I dont understand how the rules are so different.

I like the military thing. Make it a requirement they join up and IF they can pass the test to join give them the citizenship test after they get their Honorable Discharge. This will provide a steady income for them and their family, and it will give them the opportunity to learn a skill other than selling hot dogs down by the river. After they get out they will have a skill and will be a valuable person to have on the payroll. Now they are just coming up and working for peanuts just spinning their wheels never really getting anywhere.

Its kind of like this TDR site. The smarter one of us gets, the smarter all of us get. The economy is the same way. If everyone is working for minimum wages, then who will afford to buy the products from companies we work for? Pretty soon if mainstream America isn't making money, they wont be spending money. A report on ABC news Friday said that according to the last census, the Mexican population grew by over 60% in 10 years in America... that's just the ones here who admitted to the census people they were living here. Now ad in the news article that said 11 states are now in a recession as defined by the federal gov'ts standards and qualifications. Guess which states? The ones who had the biggest increase in Hispanic population over the past 10 years are also the ones in the center of this recession.

Chad,speaking of tests and tutors reminded me of a good one. Some of the Mexicans who work for me were taking night time English classes. After a couple of weeks I asked one of them what he had learned. His reply,"George Washington was the best God da*n f***ing president of the Untied States. "

If I remember correctly we do screen LEGAL immigrants. My department recently went thru a hiring phase and we got resumes from around the world - internal employees. We didn't even bother interviewing very highly qualified Indian & Malaysian candidates because we would have had to prove we couldn't find a qualified candidate in the US.

My wife is a German citizen. She came to the US on a work exchange visa and ended up getting her green card thru the lottery - talk about a PIA.

Unless you put armed military patrols on the borders - yes, Canadian & Mexican - you will NOT stop illegal immigration. The benefits - not govt hand outs but real jobs - far outweight the consequences.

Just remember, at one time all of us can trace our family tree back to an immigrant (ok, so native americans may not be able to)
