oil leak.

Jonathan,

Don't quote me but I seem to remember reading post with reference to no and very little oil in these engines

and they still ran. It looks like you might still be under warranty. I have ran mine as much as two quarts low and no bad to the engine. If no warning chime came on to indicate low or no oil pressure then you maybe alls good.

Keep us posted. Heres hoping for the best.

Take Care

Mike

How much oil is left in the pan? Oil leaks often look way worse than they really are. I agree with MFranz that if you had pressure, you are OK. Are you running synthetic? If so, you will be more prone to leaks. This stuff can find a hole anywhere.

Best of luck.

Oil level is still good, but obviously I'm leaking a lot of oil from somewhere. Even my tailgate is covered in it.

if the level is still good, and you have lost enough to oil to cover your tailgate, pull the dipstick and smell it to see if you can detect any diesel fuel smell to it... ?

I'm going to go out on a limb, but I have known friends that have had something similar happen to their trucks, but what really happened was they either hit a grease can, bottle of oil in the road, or perhaps been behind a car/ truck spewing oil all over the place. Although your situation appears isolated to your vehicle, it wouldn't hurt to suggest the aforementioned. Also if you've got oil in the pan, oil pressure etc I don't think you've got too much of an issue.

If all fluid levels are good and pressures are good go to a car wash clean the under side and drive a little then look for your leak.

perhaps a quick check of the

"puke bottle" is in order, then maybe the vac / power steering pump seal, either has made a quick mess of mine in a hurry. other thoughts... oil filter, oil pan plug

good luck with it.
