2006 dodge 2500 six speed was changing programmer settings from performance to tow/haul and now it will not start. This is what the programmer is saying.

1 Locked Recovery Mode Press Next

2 Turn ignition on do not start

3 Erasing current program

4 Programming file 1

5 Retrying programming session

What can i do? Superchips customer service is only open monday thru friday 8-5 is there any way to reset the ECM or something please help

Unplug your batteries for 10 minutes or so and put the stock program in it.

this should reset the ecm and the truck should run.

then you could try again.

that is the problem i waited over an hour with the batteries unplugged came back and let the machine run over an hour and it still will not do anything. So i left it unplugged overnight and am gonna try it again this evening but you can bet i will be sending this thing back and get my money back. It will not let me reset to stock or anything gonna call them at 8 am tomorrow if nothing else

We tried the superchips downloader in our shop truck (same as yours) and it wouldn't start either. We ended up having to send the ecm out to be reprogrammed.  Superchips took care of the overnight shipping both ways.

I have been waiting for this to happen :-laf :-laf . Even the factory flashes can fail once in a while. All the guys that say downloaders are great and risk free take Heed ;)

Bob

After a few minutes and it still dead it dosen't matter if you leave batterys unkooked for a year. Its dead in the water until its unlocked and reloaded.

i agree with the others, the down loaders can fail at any time and leave you in the water--chest deep, sorry dude. hope superchip can make it right for you!! :-laf

Messing around with ECM programming is a no-no. Security key issues, failing programmers, and programming glitches are only some of the issues plaguing them. Not only that, the dealer scan tool can usually detect a footprint in the truck's ECM that would indicate a downloaded program. At least with a plug-in module it can be unplugged and returned to stock if such a need arises.

So far no one has given you any constructive advice.

I think your best bet is to call Superchips customer service on Monday. It's a real bummer, but I think it's your only choice.

I bought my downloader based on Bully Dog's advertisements on their website, which included several claims that have been proven incorrect. They have since changed their advertisements. That said, I have had no problems with my downloader. I think it's a good addition to my truck. Now that I have it, my ecm has been modified, negating any warranty. I don't care, that's the last thing a DC tech is going to notice.

Perhaps you can pm Marco, he may have some advice for you, and even an ecm to sell/trade you if yours is truly corrupted.

It may not seem like it is constructive advice to turbinesurgun

but if it saves someone else from killing his truck it was worth my time. I hear and see this everyday. I am getting a bit tired of hearing"they said on TDR that it is SAFE and won't Affect my warranty"

If you are going to play..... be prepared to pay

Agreed.

If I had to do it over, I would have skipped the downloader.

Now that I have it, I'll keep using it.

you are not the first for this to happen too. I am sorry to tell you that you will most likely have to get your truck reflashed. Not positive i will do some checking and get back. I know of two trucks that have had this happen and maybe a third. They were talking of reflashing truck don't know if they had too.

had to send ecm to superchips for reflash but you can bet your bottom dollar they will be getting this flashpaq back because i want a refund on this pos.

WOW,this going to be interesting,I hope you do not have the sentry Key.

Wonder if it gets a ORIGNAL reflash or if country is Brazil or somethere else. There was a POST about a D. C. tech going WOW never seen this before but it dosen't say USA as country. It was a South American country on one that had had the STOCK version put back in. Thats one clue to how a tech or D. C. can tell its had a program installed and removed.

DP,Have you ever heard of anyone doing a flash without the ECM in the Vehicle with the sentry key,I hope he also sent the VIN# with the ECM.

Really not versed enough on this to say. Does the ECM lose all memory. If so the vin and skim key etc. would need to be installed. But if it onlys looses the run features etc. I guess it would not be needed. Other guys with more knowledge jump in!

They said they were gonna take the info off of the flashpaq and install it back into the ecm. They also got the vin number but you can bet they will be getting this flashpaq back and i will never buy another superchip product again.

The vin is not enough there is also a secret key that must be transfered between modules when one is replaced along with a pin nec to program ;)
