With the overdrive off, when im traveling 40-45 mph and I give it light throttle it starts to shudder like its stuck between gears. if i give it gas its fine or if i let off the throttle its ok to. i took it in to DC and brought the head mech for a ride. he told me to not drive with O. D. off. (What an ACE!!! he even opened the service manual and tried to tell me how to drive my truck, He then told me it sounded like the T. C. was staying locked up??) well D. C. 's solution was its my over sized tires. ( I told D. C. that i was pretty sure it was caused by the NEW FLOOR MATTS or the NEW CD PLAYER I put in) Has anyone seen or heard of this issue before??? its now starting to actup with the overdrive (on) same speed 40-45 ,not as bad but i can tell there is something wrong.

1999 with 20k!!! ohh with new floor mats and cd player

(throttle position sensor) ?????
(18-02-99 service bulletin) ?????

actually from what i was told on TV cable adjustmnet it wants to me one to one , throttle starts moving , TV starts moving , when the throttle stops there should still be 1/4 inch more TV travel ???? this is what bill k told me the other day on the phone , i'm going to be setting mine like that . if i'm understanding what bill told be incorrectly hopefully someone at DTT will set me straight , won't be till april that i go up there for a hands on training seminar ... other than the hands on my own transmission ...

I have a 1999 1 ton and its been in for service on the transmission about three times now!! I,ve got 36,000 on it. my truck had the same problem. its like the transmission can't decide what gear to be in. they overhauled the transmission and the problem wen't away. two weeks ago i installed the banks powerpack. since then the problem came back,GO FIGURE!!. back to dodge i wen't they looked and told me i voided my warranty with the powerpack, and there is nothing wrong with my transmission. I might not be the smartest person, bu anyone who drove my truck would planly see there is a serious problem. Don't let dodge give you any greif about your transmission. AT 20k, its still under warrinty, and they have to fix it! good luck.

Im going to try and take it to a different dealer, see what they can do. ramhead you said it exactly, "it just cant decide if it should downshift or what gear it should be in". there is another dealer 30 miles away, D. D. told me thats who does all there shift kits. thats probably going to be my next upgrade. I have checked the trans level its all good,As far as the throttle cable goes i will bring that up to the new dealer i go to. I am not sure if the T. C. is locked up or not when this occurs (how can i tell??)

I had this problem when I installed my Banks Stinger Plus. After talking to Banks they gave me the TSB # to correct it. The dealer mechanic started telling me about stray electrical signals he was seeing and he thought it was this and maybe that. I finally insisted that he do the TSB first and then we would consider all these other things he thought might be wrong. Well, lo and behold the TSB fixed it, he did some backtracking. I have to give them credit, they didn't try to blame it on Banks, and warranty covered it.

At 45 mph with the O/D turned off your torque converter should be locked up. Sounds like a typical case of torque converter shutter. In short your POS valve body isn't producing enough pressure to keep the torque converter locked up. Too bad your dealer's ace mechanic couldn't figure that one out #ad

What a bozo! Glad to see they used the classic "Blame the oversized tire" routine. Do they send their guys to a school where they teach them this crap?! Anyway, getting back on subject, in short, your torque converter is in the process of taking a dump on you. When it completly takes a dump, which sounds like it will be very soon, it will pretty much succede in trashing the whole transmission. The good news is that will give you a good excuse to get Bill K. to fix you up with the right set up... or you could go get a dealer rebuild and start it all over again. Just be sure and get rid of those oversized tires...

Is your TC locked up when the symptoms occur?
If so, then it's probably your TC acting up.
For starters, you need to:
Check the level and condition of the trans
fluid.
Possibly check the line pressure (have the
dealer test it)
could possibly be a tps or tc solenoid problem.
Whatever the case may be, it's not normal and don't quit complaining until your satisfied.
