Thought at first it was a headgasket, found out fri afternoon i got the crack behind the heatexchanger :{ . I have 129k now on the truck only minor mods, I did some searches but need to know who to call. Does anybody have a name and #. Would love to hear from fellow members who had to deal with a cracked block and their truck being past 100k. I heard that Cummins will pick up 1/2 the tab of a rebuilt. I need as much ammo as fast as possible, this truck is my bread and butter. I would rather fix if reasonable than start all over with payments. I can get the truck in mon afternoon at Cummins.

1-800-343-7357, you can start there, My old 99 had not given me any trouble but I decided to call the folks over at Cummins to pick their brain should the need arrise. They will direct you to an authorized Cummins facility where they will inspect the leak.

They will inturn notify Cummins in Columbus Ind of their findings. In the past they were picking up (so I've heard)1/2 the cost a short block (the 56 block)and in some cases 1/2 the labor costs to replace it.

My ol 99 35 Honey had not started to leak yet but after hearing all the trouble some of the members were having with both Cummins and DC I decided to launch the 99. I just depend to much on my truck. It gets used every other weekend towing our 30' toy box and 4 to 5 weeks every summer travling between so Ca and NW Wa st.

I don't think that the failure rate is that low, has there been a poll on this? If what I have read is true and the block wall is only half the thickness it is supposed to be, I can't see how they would not make good on this. I bought the truck because of the engine. 40000$ every five years is a little to rich for my blood.

This has been discussed so much and I'm wondering why there has not been a lawsuit. Afterall Cummins admitted that it is a design flaw. They should pay for all of it.
