HELP

Try unpluging your internet connection then run your removal programs and see if that works. These hackers come up with some ingenious ways as it is being deleted a new one is being installed via internet.

If you are still using Internet Explorer, stop right now. The only legitimate use of IE today is to download Firefox from Firefox.com. After that, you should use IE *ONLY* for those very few websites that you must peruse, know well, reasonably trust and are so poorly written that they work only in IE. Otherwise, you should use Firefox (or almost any browser OTHER THAN Internet Explorer) for all your web browsing.

You are afflicted with TerrorWare, which is malware that attempts to terrorize victims into paying for something that is not needed. These programs are often spread via drive-by downloads; it would not be a surprise to find they hack into websites to create these drive-bys.

Go to the following two pages and review the programs:Then download AnitMalware and the latest database:and download RogueRemoverFree:These programs should remove the offensive malware.

You can also visit Kaspersky Lab and run their free on-line scan as a 'second opinion'. (I don't know how they came up with the name 'Kaspersky', but I suspect it's related to them providing 'Personal Ether Lubricant', which is highly touted by 'the Friendly Ghost'. )

Oh, and be prepared to spend a few hours running these programs, and running them several times, and maybe even rebooting into safe mode and running from there.

I second the Firefox suggestion... . albeit a little too late...

Your problem looks like the same one discussed in this thread...

I freakin hate these little SOB's that write this crap... #@$%!

Hammersley, be very, very careful! This might be one to take in to a tech and have them remove it. Spyzooka does not remove the whole thing. I had this same nasty and it eventually dragged my system to a near halt. Back up everything you have and get to a reputable tech! Good luck!

Thanks a millon - I went over to the other thread

and downloaded Registry MeChanic - wow - what a difference..... Now about FIREFOX I need more data about it... . for example I have Comcast and they supply Macafee - when I was looking at the Firefox Download site (on CNET) it mentioned that people who downloaded Firefox also downloaded a Macafee ---something---to make it work with Firefox. Since Comcast is supplying Macafee - how can I keep my security up? I mean I don't want this to be a hobby to keep Firefox Updated?????

firefox updates itself it will let you know when they are available. I have mcafe and don't remember having to do anything special with firefox

Iv had Macafee on other machines.

When I got my new computer, it came with Trend PC cillin installed.

After transfering everything to the new one, Trend ran and found at least a dozen items Mcaffee didnt.

One thing I hated about Mcaffee is it didnt upgrade to a newer version automatically as others have done.

... how can I keep my security up? I mean I don't want this to be a hobby to keep Firefox Updated?????

You can start by not using IE; it is the single worst security hole in Windows. You'd be better off using firefox with no AV than using IE with all of them together.

Macafee and Norton are the two worst commercial AV products out there. They take over your computer to the point that *they* use all available CPU cycles and leave none for you. Delete them, then download the tools that delete what their uninstallers refuse to.

Then go to firefox.com and download and install firefox. Use the Custom selection and don't install the Google toolbar; you don't need it. Make firefox your default browser. Right-click the desktop background, select properties, click the Customize Desktop button, unclick IE and click My Computer and Network. And don't install any other browser toolbars. You don't need any of them and they only serve to slow down your computer and take up valuable display space.

Now go to free. grisoft.com and download version 8 of their free AVG program. Version 8 scans incoming email, incoming web, and search engine results in your browser (telling you whether or not the links have malware in them). It can perform scheduled scans of your hard drives.

That takes care of the computer. If you do not have a hardware firewall between you and the internet and you are using some form of broadband, go buy a linksys, netgear, dlink or any other brand router/firewall and install it between your computer and your 'modem'. Then go into its management web interface and turn off or disable UPnP (a feature that allows the computer to open any ports it wants to, thus defeating the purpose of the firewall).

Now use your organic computer when browsing the web and don't click on any and every pretty or flashy link you see. Have an idea what you are looking for and decide before visiting any web site whether or not you will trust that site to be clean of malware.

If you have teenagers using your computer, lock them out; give them their own computer that can be reloaded from scratch periodically. Then reload it periodically so they don't get comfy with the idea of downloading (stealing) hundred of gigabytes of music and videos. They'll learn to keep backups of important information.

At this point you will have the most reasonable protection from internet miscreants for the money you will have spent. Yes, you can get better protection, but your computer will be less usable and it will cost you a lot more money. Yes, you can isolate your computer from the internet; it's most cost effective, but you miss all the benefits of internet communication.

Reasonable protection at a fair price. Firefox, AVG, router/firewall and your organic computer will do a lot to keep your electronic computer humming along smoothly.

I "third" Firefox! I LOVE it. Much faster and no virus problems or pop ups.

It came dealer installed (no internet exploder) on our latest laptop and server from Vision Computers in Atlanta.

I agree with fest3er except that I bought the next level of AVG. I also run RegCure on a schedule so my registry doesn't accumulate so much junk. My system is really fast. I have a Linksys router for my three computer network. The grandkids are restricted to one computer. I have had to reload the system on that thing a few times because of clutter and crazy stuff.
