I have the 01. 5 with the towing mirrors, The driverside Mirror glass fell out and busted, It cracked the frame also. The friendly people at dodge can get me a replacement mirror for the 3rd gen dodges but NOT for the 2nd gen, Trust me they attach differently(i already tried the 3rd gen mirror) The parts guy called me today saying that DC can't get a replacement mirror for my truck but gave me the # of the company they get them from. I called that company and they say they don't make them, Just put them together. . HELP!!! before i blow up the dealership

Okay Okay, Dodge Sucks. Your Parts guy sucks too...

Now, go on ebay and search dodge ram towing mirrors. You will come up with a set of two, or get in tough with a real parts guy, SKargo on TDR...

if it helps

hey

If it helps I have a complete 01 non power tow mirror. The glass is fractured but the rest of the assembly is new. PM me if you can use it.

Search 2nd gen forum for towing mirror part number and you will find the number for the complete mirror. Search there for mirror glass and you will find a link for the exact replacement glass (Burco Inc. ) if you don't have a local glass shop that can fix you up.

The shape of the glass in second and third generation Mopar tow mirrors is identical.

Additionly, third generation Rams have a heated-glass option. You should notice that the same unheated glass is used in both second and third generation Mopar tow mirrors if you check the Burco catalog: http://www.burcoinc.com/

I thought the same thing until I ordered one for a 3rd gen, They mount differently than the second gen mirrors.

Here's the deal, the earlier mirrors have a different mounting inside them then the newer ones. I did a swap on my 2nd gen with the 3rd gen mirrors. I bought a set of brand new manual 2nd gen mirrors, two good 3rd gen mirrors and one older 2nd gen mirror and one 3rd gen mirror that had been damaged in different places. I was able to swap the mirror heads on one and swap the piece inside the mirror on another that attached with four screws inside. The newer mirror has internal brackets and are glued inside the mirror head. The glass is still identical to the older style.

Yes i Know the actual glass is EXACTLY THE SAME. But i am not buying a new set of mirrors just because one retainer clip is missing from the mirror frame and the glass is broken, If the clip wasn't missing i would just have a glass shop fix it. But what good would that do if it is just going to fall back out again b/c of the missing retainer clip?
