Help Trans replacement.

One of my co-workers has a 97 3500 Ram that is mostly stock. He needs to have the transmissin rebuilt / a new one installed. Acording to one person he can do the trans swap, but then needs to go to a dealer to have the shift points recalibrated???



Is this needed after the swap? Or if the Battries are disconnected for a while will the computer have to re-learn them, and get around this?



I don't have much background with the 12 valve autos, so any help is appriciated.

Your on the right website. That is close enough for us.



From my understanding of that year model. It only uses the computer for the lockup function of the converter. So just doing a trans R&R should not affect anything if the converter lock feature was working right in the first place.



Sorry to hear about your friends loose of buying power. That hurts when you loose a trans.
