In process of re-installing the 47RE in my sons 96. (just did a full Suncoast rebuild and upgrade) Screwed up and did not notice bolt lengths when removing last Sunday. There are 7 bolts between mounting transmission to engine. 2 are shorter. Where do the short ones go? Yes, I should have paid attention...

I believe the shorter ones go on the bottom 2 bolts.

Although... I don't remember them being different lengths on the transmissions I have done.

Thanks guys!

Well, it looks like it may vary. Put the two short bolts in on the sides and they torqued OK. Guess I didn't notice them when removing. Figured that was the point of least stress.

Bolts are rarely 1&1/2 times the dia. If they are 3/8" bolts when you stick them in place they should be sticking out about 1/2".
