I am looking for direction regarding my truck reverting to limp mode as a trusted transmission shop told me 72 hours ago that my transmission was flawless and my ecm tells my truck to behave this way. I had experienced some intermittent "barking" for the last 3 weeks roughly. But this all started after I purchased new tires and entered the new tire diameter into my Mini-max. I've had absolutely zero problems with this truck until that took place. I immediately experienced this "barking or chirping" sound at shift intervals and then my truck started to "hunting for gears," but only when on an incline. in the mornings or when it was cold, the truck performed flawlessly. I even asked the transmission shop owner about servicing the transmission for me and he said there was no reason to do that, the fluids looked to be in perfect condition. There are no codes and I have over 55K with all of my mods with the exception of going from 265's to 285's less than 3 weeks ago. Any help is appreciated.

First of all, welcome to TDR.

When you have a chance, please give us an overview of your truck including year, configuration, mods, etc. That will help us help you track down the issue.

My gut tells me that something happend to your programming when you made the tire diameter change with the Mini-max since it all seemed to happen at the same time. If you haven't done so already, it wouldn't hurt to return the programming back to what you had before and then reload.

Thanks for the welcome.

My truck:

08' 2500 4x4, quad cab, 6.7L
H&S Mini-Max
H&S "Turbo Horn"
AFE air intake
5" turbo back exhaust
EGR & DPF deletes
170K miles

I have actually tried resetting the tire size and then contacted H&S, no help there. I did a firmware update though per the H&S tech's recommendation. It might be worse now that I updated firmware...

It might also be helpful to mention that I have a 6 speed auto transmission, I do not know anymore than that though. Isn't it possible that I could have one of two brands of transmission?

I just ran a diagnostics again and no codes are present, from both engine communication and the transmission.
If anyone has an H&S and the overdrive software, I'd like to hear from you too.

You may have to get the Dodge scanner on it to find the stored codes. Some readers simply will not read DTC's in some cases.

Clarify this barking and chirping you are referencing. Is this from the turbo or ???? It is possible that the fueling curve is cauisng the turbo control to see things it doesn't like which means the ECM is getting some negative feedback that is causing it to implement the TQ management on the turbo making it seem like limp mode when all the really is gong on is a bit of confusion about where to set the turbo collar, how muc fuel, and what gear.

The poossible symptom can be gear hunt, dead or slow pedal, power derate, etc. Witht he turbo controller, engine controller, and trans controller all talking and basically trying to save themselves from each other the lines of cummuication can get a bit crossed.
