My 97 is blowing the 40 amp fuse under the hood when I turn the key to start the truck. Any ideas where to look first? Is this related to the starter or heater grids? Any help is appreciated.
Sounds like a power wire may be going straight to ground. Figure out which circuit it is, and see what run off of it. Then start looking for bare wire.
Things like this are usually pretty easy to find, especially if you have a service manual. A service manual is cheap compared to the labor you would be charged to fix something like this. I think I would start disconnecting things that have big wires running to them until it quits blowing the fuse.
