Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Help, Truck wont start. P1693

Came home from work, Truck ran great. Went out to go to the store, turned key, Nothing. Turned key three times, P1693 came up. Dont know what to do

Sorry, I should have said it wont crank at all. Bateries are new. Could the starter die just like that? Mabee the starter relay? Thanks

I know this may sound dumb, but did you check the battery connections? Just an idea...

Yes, the connections are fine. The relay seems fine. But the 20 amp starter fuse was blown. Replaced it and it blew again.

Sounds like it may be stuck starter brushes or they may be worn out. How many miles on the truck? Try tapping the starter with a hammer and a 12" 3/8 drive extension while someone else is turning the key.

62,000 miles. I tried to tap the starter. I guess Ill pull it out and chack the brushes. Thanks for the help

There's an aftermarket rebuild kit with larger bruches. The stock brushes are too thin. I don't recall the supplier but if you do a search I'm sure it'll come up. I rebuilt mine and it was very easy.

It was the contacts. A friend had a set that he bought off ebay for a spare. They went in ez. one of the old ones was worn right through. Thanks for all the replys
