Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) help truck wont start

Friday after work i got into my truck and turned the key, let the lift pump run and turned it over, nothing? It shows 14 volts on the volt meter. The radio comes on everything works but it wont start. Nothing not a click or anything. (by the way i had been working about ten hours in the 100 degree plus heat so this was the last thing i needed on a friday afternoon). I thought it may be the starter so i climbed undr the truck and gave it a whack with the hammer and still nothing. I thought that one of the batteries may have a dead short or something so i ran them up to oreilys ( auto parts store) and had them checked, they were both good. While i was there i picked up a starter relay and that didnt do anything either. I think it may be the starter but wanted to ask you guys before i dug in.

J. Lee. have you checked your fuses?. also you might want to look at connections for power and grounds. j. p

Is it a manual or auto? Could be the Clutch pedal position switch or the Park/neutral switch. Symptoms sound about right for it to be that.
