Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) HELP..Turbo Boost Limit Exceeded

How can I trouble shoot this? I have a drag comp, boost elbow, Pump cover and a K&N Filter. About a month ago I had the Map sensor replaced because I was receiving other codes along with this one.



Where do I even start? Do i have problems that I should be concerned about. I thought the boost elbow takes care of this over boost problem.

the map senser connection takes care of the over boost protection.



The elbow only lets the turbo run higher pressures.





check your map senser connection and use some dielectric grease

BEcause the MAp sensor is seing the higher boost levels it is defueling and setting the code once 20Lbs is met. Your Boost fooler is not working.

The boost fooler is a function build into your comp. It is half of the reason your comp plugs into the MAP sensor. Try cleaning your connections on your MAP sensor and the corresponding plugs on your comp harness. After they're clean apply dielectric grease to each of the connetions and plug them all back in. Another spot often overlooked is the harness connection to the back of the comp box. Unhook that connection and check your pins to see if the all look straight and undamaged. Then apply a very small amount of dielectric grease to each of the openings in the plug on the end of the harness and reconnect. If that doesen't solve it then re-post; tell us your findings and at that point contact EDGE. Aaron may want you to send in your comp for testing.

Just to fill you guys in some more. Aaron at Edge sent me a new Comp Box about a month ago at the same time I was having the code problems. I cleared the codes installed new comp and Map sensor then I pulled my 5th wheel one weekend and then I was still getting the over boost code. I talked with Aaron again and he just sent me a new wiring harness so tonight I'll install the new wiring harness with some dielectic grease and get someone to clear the codes again and the see what happens.



Is the over boost code tring to tell me something else, like Vp44 is going out?

Probably not. It is most likely getting the overboost code from not having a good connection at the sensor.

nope, the failing vp will trigger a different code but you will see it eventually

you don't think the pump cover has anything to do with it do ya??

Like not having a good connection for the wire?

bad connection from the cover would trigger low power symptoms



change out the harness a report back

If you have a bad connection on the pump wire, you will have low power and hardly any smoke

Whew sorry i couldn't elaborate on my post ther the Boss amn was cummin' . Theese guys nailed it it is a built in feature on the comp. It "Fools the Boost" Numbers being sent to the ECM by the Map sensor. It never lets the ECM see anything over 20 Lbs of boost so the motor won't defuel and set that code.

Well I installed new wiring harness from Edge last night had the codes cleared this morning so I'll see what happens tonight. I have to pull a car hauler with a car on it about 50 miles tonight so we'll see if I get any codes. wish me luck... Also I have 16 psi fuel pressure at idle.

P1693 can be anything, you have to dig deeper to find the real cause.



The P1693 I have was caused by a FPCM/ECM disagreement

Same Scenario

I went through the same thing a few months back. That is why I suggested dielectrick grease on EVERY connection. I also ended up replacing the entire comp wiring harness. This should fix your problems. I did all the same things you did [clean&grease connections on MAP, clean MAP, replace MAP, replace COMP, clean & grease ALL conections(worked for a while) , replace harness] and the harness was the answer.

I put new wiring harness on the comp box and I'm NOT throwing anymore codes, as of yet. . I haven't really hooked onto anything really heavy.



New:

1. comp Box

2. Dielectric grease

3. Map sensor



and still throwing codes. Then finally a new



4. Comp Wiring harness and it's fixed
